What program do you edit and open up that /etc/pmconfig file with without changing its format or messing it up?

Try PyGTKEditor - it is simple to use.

Start X-Term, copy file to directory -

cp /etc/pmconfig ~/MyDocs/

Then start PyGTKEditor and edit file 'pmconfig' then copy it back

sudo gainroot
cp ~/MyDocs/pmconfig /etc/pmconfig

(You should install package 'rootsh' for last 2 steps).

Re: Rebooting quick-fix

I've been helping people on the Nokia discussion forum apply this patch to their devices..

Details are:

Open this link on your phone
http://chris.intrepid.cx/N900/fix

Click on the first link.. select open and proceed with the installation

Click on the second link.. select save, save it in the documents folder on your phone..

Open an x terminal and run:

sudo gainroot
sh MyDocs/.documents/fixpm.sh enable

To remove the fix, replace enable with disable.. Remember, the commands are case sensitive..

This is handy for those not familar with the likes of vi and don't like long sed command lines :)
