Requiring the "1" might be a bug. Could you send me the log?

This is a general call out. DIalcentral has been experiencing issues with using GIzmo for a while. I implemented an idea I had to fix it in The One Ring. Could someone who has seen Gizmo not work in Dialcentral confirm it works in The One Ring?

If so then I can go fix the bug in Dialcentral and make people with Maemo 4.1 happy.

Here is the relevant portion of the log. I tried without the "1" first, updated contact info, and tried again with the "1". First call "general error". Second call worked fine. Additionally, I just checked, this is a number that is Not in my Google Voice contacts (only on the N900).
Code:

(09:09:32) INFO:connection:get_handle_by_name Contact: 330xxxxxxx
(09:09:32) DEBUG:handle:Created Handle: <ContactHandle id=17 name='+1330xxxxxxx'> (Is New!)

(09:09:32) WARNING:channel.call:InitiatorID or InitiatorHandle not set on new channel, assuming locally initiated

(09:10:04) DEBUG:handle:Created Handle: <ContactHandle id=18 name='+1330xxxxxxx'> (Is New!)
(09:10:04) DEBUG:channel_manager:New media channel
(09:10:04) WARNING:channel.call:InitiatorID or InitiatorHandle not set on new channel, assuming locally initiated
(09:10:06) DEBUG:gvoice.browser_emu:Performing download of https://www.google.com/voice/mobile/phones

(09:10:07) DEBUG:gvoice.browser_emu:Performing download of https://www.google.com/voice/call/connect
(09:10:08) DEBUG:channel.call:Closing call

I suspected the call out (~5 second call initially) was normal. I just wanted to note that it happened for anyone else playing along.

For the most part, Gizmo has worked for me. I think there was one version of DialCentral where it didn't, but it does work now on the N900. Haven't tried lately on my N800. (Insert crossed finger / knocking on wood smiley).

I've done a little sms'ing this morning as well. Everything appears to be working normally. No duplicate downloads, and GV appears to show the sms as "read" now as well. **One note however (I don't know if this is something you have any contol over), the IM box doesn't show a character count like the SMS box does. I guess this is expected behavior for the N900.

It's very nice to have everything integrated into the N900 with GV. Thanks for all the hard work.

A quick note on battery life. I've had The One Ring enabled for over 18 hours with maybe 6 texts being sent (so mostly idle) and I'm at about halfway through my battery.

Drat, doesn't look like this log will be enough. I think I need a log made of dbus stuff ("dbus-monitor --session > theonering.log").

Yes, I believe that would be correct. With both sending of texts and calls I could make it lazy and have it immediately acknowledge the users action but I'd rather first make sure it goes through to help with error reporting.

To me it seems random of whether GV will show something as read (I never actually send them a message to mark them as read). I think GV marks a message as read if you send a Reply.

So The One Ring can know what is read and what isn't (especially with GV's threaded sms's) I cache a history of texts to the filesystem. The issue you had before was I didn't mark them as read in my cache so when I would reload it, they would seem new and reshow them. Do note I ignore the cache if it was saved by a previous verson of The One Ring. So on upgrading you might get some duplicate messages.

You are correct, I have no control over that. I'm curious (haven't verified it myself) if sending a text over 140 will have GV auto-split it.

Re: [Announce] The One Ring

How strange. I just loaded up The One Ring 0.7.0-4 on my n810 and saw none of the issues I've mentioned previously. Would someone who doesn't mind completely killing RTComm give it a try and confirm that The One Ring works even more beautifully on an n810 than on an n900?

In class ATM but will give this a run in an hour or two if no one else has the junk to test it :) I just formatted last night, whats another re-flash between friends?

Epage, Is there anything to know before hand going in or simply install and set up an account similar to how I did for a sip account with RTCOMM?

Re: [Announce] The One Ring

FYI Andre just got back to me about The One Ring being in bugs.maemo.org.

I've added links to the first post.

Also for some reason the maemo.org script that is suppose to update the website from my git repo isn't working. I'm going to look into that.

Re: [Announce] The One Ring

Ok I didnt wait till class was over lol. When I first installed it, I rebooted my system, connected to the net on the restart and RTCOMM was not happy. I clicked on the settings, and there were 2 old entried when I tried TheOneRing previously. I deleted both entries and created a new one. As soon as I finished, I was greeted with 6-7 IM windows, SMS messages that were "new" on GV. It appears that that is working at least. All my contacts to appear online in the list as I assumed they would. Depending on the contact there are multiple entries due to multiple numbers. When I click on the name, I can click on internet call, but it brings me to the internet call application in maemo, which immediately disconnects so it does not appear to be working to initiate the call yet. Also the chat option which I assume is going to be used to txt is grayed out, can not click it. If there is anything else you want me to try out or any other info needed give me a shout out! Looking good so far very excited to see whats coming next!

So far so good

The initiating of the callback does cause internet call application to appear with a short "Connecting" status following by "Disconnected". See the First Post "How it Works" -> "Calls".

Whether that succeeded or not...

(log could be helpful)

Hmm, its not grayed out for me. What version of RTCom are you running? HAM lists "rtcom-beta-os2008" as 2.4 on mine. I see there is a "2.4-1" which I have not installed.

I'm unsure why this is happening. Is anyone else having a similar issue with Maemo 4.1?

Re: [Announce] The One Ring

SUCCESS!!! kinda lol. TRO takes its best guess as to which call back to dial, which unfortunately was my second gizmo account located at my house which is why I didn't get the call back as expected. However I answered at home and it dialed as expected

As far as rtcom, how do Icheck out what version I am using. you mention HAM but that does not help :)

*Edit Checked out my installed applications. in the menu it shows rtcom-beta-os2008 when clicked it shows rtcom-beta-os2008 2.4-1. This appears to be the problem :) I'm not sure what the differences are if any or how to get on the right version but this does indeed seem to be the issue

Yes, The One Ring does make a guess at which callback to use. You can control this by changing your "Screen Name" from the current callback number to the one you want. Sadly I do not think its possible for me to provide a list of all the available numbers for you to choose from.

HAM == Hildon Application Manager (sometimes I've also seen it called AM).

Go to "Show installed applications" and browse down to "rtcom-beta-os2008".
