there's a reason the default nameserver of the N900 is itself - it's running dnsmasq to cache lookups locally, which is actually A Good Thing on a device that can constantly change connections - f.ex. your ISP's nameservers probably won't do you much good on a public WLAN. now, why the dnsmasq on your device doesn't work properly is a whole other story :) edit: Rob1n has already posted instructions in this thread on how to best set custom nameservers. |

Yes, that's why I have added a public DNS server (google) to resolv.conf. I have not removed the first nameserver (127.0.0.1). Then, if it fails, it goes to google's DNS (8.8.8.8) which should work for any ISP and connection.
