Similar to the alsa changes that are done here, is it also possible to be able to play an audio file and hear it in the call?

Happy post-Christmas to me, courtesy of Roeland :) I always wanted my N900 to do this.

fm-carkit works quite well. When calling voicemail, sometimes it takes a second to switch to FM transmission, but the tool seems perfectly usable.

No this looks like a complete different feature, first thing which came to my mind was to play with software like asterisk.

But ofcourse you can start a mp3 on your phone, and it will be picked up by the mic, but I don't think this is what you want ;-)

There is some problems with this app.

1. When you turn on the FM transmitter and forgot to turn on the fm-carkit and when someone called you, it wouldn't work even if you turn on fm-carkit afterward.

2. When you turn both FM transmitter and fm-carkit on and someone called you, it works but then when you turn on the phone speaker and then turn off right away, it doesn't work anymore.

3. No option to leave fm-carkit ON on the time. For example, after reboot, it always goes to OFF position.

Other than these...it's a pretty good app!

I have release a new version 0.4........ but without your comment :)

I will look into your points, and see if i can fix some in a next version. On 1 & 3 I agree that this should be fixed, regarding 2 I unfortunatly I haven't figure out how to hook into the speaker button/function of the phone app.

I reason i want to leave fm-carkit on all the time is because it doesn't take resource at all. It should be default to ON since you don't want to keep checking it every time in case you receive a call while in the car w/ radio transmitter ON.

Edit: Ok let me correct...i don't think it's a good idea to turn it ON by default. I didn't realize that when it's ON, you can't hear the voice from the caller or when you make a phone call, you can't hear the voice unless you turn off the fm-carkit. I do think it's a good idea to turn ON the carkit automatically when radio transmitter is turn on. And OFF when radio transmitter is off. It's just a convenient way of not having to press both.
