Less annoying than getting ending up with a non-replaceable dead battery in my book, especially if you are on the road. And if it happens to you EVERY day, you want a Mugen pack or sorts. Or simply pay a little more attention to the always-online things that suck power.

I still wonder, why they are shipping such an outdated version of IOS given that version 15.0 was released last fall.

Agree with this. I keep a spare battery for my N900 in my wallet. Never get caught short. I also have a spare micro sd card... oh and a few credit cards as well :D
