Ya. The irony and fact is, everyone's complaining about this or that on the N900. The fact is, Maemo 5 will most likely be FULLY abandoned once Meego comes out. Nokia has dropped the majority of support for it, and it's out for like what......almost a year or so now?? The OVI Store is a piss to look at, there's nothing on there. The Application Manager contains tons of stuff, but most of them are still in development and without enabling the Extra-Testing or Extra-Devel repos, u'd get an even smaller list. Truth of the matter is, there aren't anything going on majorly for the N900, its growth isn't as good as what Android or Iphone is doing, and truth is, it's expensive and most ppl REALLY are complaining about it. And that's pretty much what 90% of this whole forum consists of. Also, the lower builds and older phones prove this as well, losing the support because Nokia concentrates on newer builds. Maemo has NEVER been completed in the first place, all this is a test run for them until their final product is released, and let's hope Meego IS the final product and actually worth their development. |

Then after 2 months, i bought it for $600 (that's how much the price dropped so quickly), and now i'm at least feeling a bit happy with the price i paid for. Many people must have felt the same, it's not about whether the community or its users will do the rest of the work for them, it's about continuing support like they promised initially. It's ironic to see how such an open source project/phone can lose this much to the iPhone, which is way more tightly closed and secured than you can ever imagine, and thus the jailbreaking. I still love the N900, that's y i got it. But rly, i just wanna be honest and hope u guys can face the truth someday, i own an iPhone and Android and can tell you that they're so much funner to use with their apps and plenty of support. I fear that the Maemo community will die soon now that ppl are started to leave one after another. I'm only keeping the N900 coz i love the keyboard (i only use phones with keyboards) and that it's just rly awesome overall, but if i were to play games or use my everyday apps on it, i do it on my iPhone. Hell, even an iPod Touch is good enough to run every app/game there is possible, i really ever use my N900 for texting and MSN, that's about it. |

It's the software part, i.e Maemo and the support for it that i'm not happy about. Is that so confusing now? I'm still amazed at how some users can keep their cool and not realize that the support is really lacking and poor. This phone is quite expensive here in NZ, but it's not like it's super cheap anywhere else either, it's still rather expensive. Let's be honest, can you guys name at least 30 apps/games or whatever that's fully developed and the final product released on the OVI Store, or on App Manager?? Aside from the overclocking i've done to it, there's nothing really out there that makes me go "WOW" anymore for this. There used to be stuff like running OSX on it, running Android in dual boot etc. But those were just testing and have been long abandoned. |
Re: Nokia (Ovi team) started to listen????
I agree with Prada. It took nokia and ovi 6 months to get the freaking n900 even being recognised by the ovi suite. What the hell have you people been smoking not seeing this?
Announced updates that take 2 months longer to be released and still crappy. And now nokia want to shut us up by saying that MeeGo can run on the n900. Wow nice! if you are a kid who's 12 years old or younger! its the most childish OS i have ever seen! People need to stand up against nokia and hit them on the head very hard. Maybe they will get their sence back and start working again. Nokia is allready going down the drain as we speak. and all this is their own fault. The last few years they are 5 steps behind on the competition. I really hoped with the come of the n900 it would be finnaly over. but fact is after 8 months we still can sync with ovi, and the store is still emty. Nokia = fail My next phone wont be a nokia anymore. they dont give $hlt about their customers. Im really glad that you guys are here! With the community we atleast get things done! |

QTF. This is exactly what most ppl are complaining about, the pure lack of support. Some people still try to defend Nokia, but really it's those type of ppl that's giving Nokia the reason to "OH MEH, WATEVER, SOME OF U GUYS R HAPPY SO THAT'S GUD ENUF FOR US SO STFU AND HERE'S A COMIC FOR U GUYS TO READ". Fact is fact, really, how much change has there been in the past year or so?? And i'm talking about substantial major changes compared to the changes that other mobile platforms have made. The firmware update is also slow and crappy too, it's rather pathetic how some of u guys can still manage to keep faith in this. I'm just being unbiased here since i own all platforms, UIQ3, Android, Maemo, Symbian, Iphone, Windows Mobile. I've used them all and Maemo is really lacking the improvement and development it deserved. FFS, it's god damn open source, where's the openness in that?? |

It's not like if i really went over to Nokia's forum and post all this crap, that i'll get them to listen. If that were the case, it would've happened at least 6 months ago. |
