You can still shut them down manually with Android though by going to settings>application management (or whatever it is called in Froyo) and selecting the app or a setting from within that application manager applet. BTW, I don't use this on the N900 but as others have stated, the fact that I can is one of the reasons why I like the N900 in the first place. Now that there is an auto-installer, others will try it and perhaps develop a greater appreciation for Maemo5 and may better understand the reasoning behind some of the decisions that were made during Maemo's development. :) |

Yes, there is a big number of Android apps, but most have better alternatives already in Maemo. There are even some things in Maemo that you can't actually find in Android (i.e. fcam, at least the whole thing that it enables). And the multitasking interface, well, i should undestand it better or install addons that simplify that, but i like more Maemo's one. Having said that, anyway there will be apps that you could want to run, games is an easy pick, at least take native advantage of being played in a touchscreen, with accelerometer that could give better experience than i.e. games in an emulator. And when the phone part gets published/functional, you will be able to share your contacts between maemo and android thru google what will make a matter preference or particular requirement what OS you will be running in a moment or another. |
