Is this the kind of thing that can print a 3D model? :O

Yep.

Go wear this to the beach:

When someone asks you 'wtf are those hideous $H!+S under your feet?', you get the satisfaction of telling them "I printed them myself" :D

Seriously though, it can 'print' some pretty cool stuffs.

Unless big companies manage to suppress the advancements i'm confident that by the end of the century we will be able to print anything from a working heart made from your own cells to a whole car at home, and the economy will shift it's focus from products to services and raw materials.

I'd still like supercapacitor to 3D printing. 60 sec charge would mean my phone can go 10 times the power it uses now. 1€ quick chargers would spring up more than wireless and automated coffee machines.

I could start my car from one of these babies. Ha, well, sorta, if the car also had a SC and an amp limiter. N910 could feature a defibrilator.

With a borderline post-singularity printer you could probably print your own caps, and you can have it look like that photo of your cat no one else thinks is funny without added captions.

Thats awesome, I'm considering getting one. More photos of things you have printed please? Did you assemble it yourself?

I'm proficient with 3D modeling, mostly 3D Studio (Can it import 3DS models?). I wonder if I could start an online sculpture business and sell little novelty models on ebay. :D

I just found this- Sagem Puma is way ahead of us and has solar panel to charge the device.

One of the key talking points is the solar panel on the rear of the device, which purports to charge the battery when placed in direct sunlight. Those of you expecting a long-awaited release from the pain of pesky wall chargers will be disappointed to learn this unique feature is more about topping up your reserves than giving a full recharge. Still, it's a welcome addition for eco-warriors, and we expect many other manufacturers to follow suit with similar designs in the future.

A device is usually either in your palm or your pocket, you don't put it screen down on the table to charge. I would prefer large flexible external charger, which can be hung on the pocket, bag or backpack or left on the table without stopping you from using the device.

But the device looks beautiful... And raises ecological awareness.

It is entirely possible to make a theme based on this device, if somebody likes to see 'happy' battery;)

A practical phone with a solar panel on the back would have to:
1. use small amount of power, like, have e-ink screen;
2. be carried in transparent bag/pocket to recharge.

Or if you use it on your dashboard as navigation or just on the road a lot. Well, (again) maybe the solar panels could supplement the charging as pocket calculators do and use artificial light.

Backpack and external panels are already available.
