Error Installing nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_rc3_armel.deb

First I installed an early version of Nitdroid...it booted up...but didn't login to google...

Second, I managed to finally get N12_Umay installed using nitdroid.manifest file over on talk.maemo.org forum....however, got 'bailing out' error when it tried to install nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_rc3_armel.deb.

So, then tried installing this kernel manually using dpkg -i command....but always get the error message:

Code:

Reading database .... 20678 files and directories currently installed.)

Unpacking nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07 (from nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_rc3_armel.deb) ...

Android not found. MUST be mounted on '/and'

dpkg: error processing nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_rc3_armel.deb (--install):

 subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

Errors were encountered while processing:

nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-07_rc3_armel.deb

Any suggestions as to how to get this fixed?

UPDATE

Got solution to this problem from i-CAD over at nitdroid forums....

Thought I'd share it just in case it helps someone else.....

root:
mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and
if you are using NITDroid in SDCard

and then install nitdroid kernel

Mine worked up to the point after reboot and android logo boot up and then nothing.... how long does it take to load first time....?

or could there be another problem....!

Manifest on first post wants a Kernel RC4 and not RC3

Oops.....Thanks for catching that Fabry and perfect timing too as I was just about to post about what happened after I rebooted and tried to use Nitdroid....

It booted up once OK and started to setup Android...but then it crashed and rebooted...and from then on I can't boot into either Maemo or Nitdroid....starts booting either one, but then either gets stuck or reboots again.....

Was about to reflash N900 again.....and suppose I'll have to do that first as I don't think I can replace the kernel now since I can't seem to boot into Maemo.....hmmm......

that would probably do it if i didnt hav a broken usb.... and im unable to charge or reflash my device.... is there another way round it.....?

Reflashed N900 and tried installing GingerBread N12 UMay again....

Finally got it to install or so it appeared from message I got that install was successful and to reboot with keyboard open.....

After reboot, clicked 2 and it started to boot Android...but fairly soon in process, I noticed a line item that said:

after process paused for a short while and continued with more lines of text scrolling, then the same error message again and then screen went black and then N900 went back to the multiboot screen.

Tried booting Android again, but same error message....

Tried booting into Maemo and it boots up OK....

Any suggestions?

Have you used a SD Class 10 ?

It seems a corrupted Nitdroid partition and this can happen if you use a SD Class 10

Yes, I just bought a 32gb Class 10 card to use a week ago....

Some (many ?) SD Class 10 have problems with N900.

There is a kernel patch that fixes but unfortunately Nitdroid's (and MeeGo's) kernel doesn't use it
