He's been quite responsive to other complaints we've lodged with him in the past.
But yes, I've always been weary of approaching him directly...
I still don't trust that when "push comes to shove", he really has our interests at heart.
He likes to present the ideal that a Nokia customer is a Nokia customer, WP or not.
But sometimes that seems like a bit of an act....

Having said all that, he really has nothing to worry about anyway...
Apollo will have feature parity* w/Maemo6x (maybe surpass), & it'll finally support beefier hardware.
Once that happens it's game over for mass-adoption of Maemo6x/N9, not that there was much of a chance before.
Adoption rates may even drop-off to lower than they were for the N900 at the same point.
As at that point there'll be about 4 top-to-mid end WP handsets, & more on the way.
And some new Symbian high-ends coming, or on-board...

Apollo isn't competing with Maemo6x/N9, it is competing with iphone and Android. As it will be out only in Q3/Q4 it is so late to the party that it may as well not come. By then iphone 5 and quad core Android phone will be out.

The prospect for WP7 is bleak. Nokia still hasn't released figures but some reports say it has sold far short of 1 million in Europe in Q4'11. This is a failure despite the huge marketing as even the N8 based on the sunset Symbian sold 4 million in its 1st Q. In India and China WP7 will fail (too many reasons to state here) while U.S. is the last great hope. The rest of the world including Oz doesn't care about WP7.

In U.S. the Nokia brand is associated with cheap flip phones for oldies while Microsoft is an unloved monopolist. WP7 penetration so far is only 5%. Will Lumia make it here? It better or Nokia is doomed. Another company will gobble up a weak and battered Nokia who bet on the wrong horse.

The more I look at it, the more it bothers me that Harmattan is as complete as it is with anemic funding but a passionate group that produced something that's pretty damn good... but feels incomplete.

Windows Phone 7, well... it's a basic restart by Microsoft that also feels incomplete. I have an N9, went on a trip overseas, made my way back to WP7 because of a few things that I actually missed - performance was not one of them, which Microsoft touts all of the time. It was a few apps that make my life simpler... Google Analytics via PhoneAnalytics, WhatsApp, (better system for) Browser Bookmarks... and a few other contact positives.

But I'm not your average user - neither are any of the TMO members. I actually dislike holding a phone to my ear, so bluetooth better be flawless. I can't say that for the N9. It didn't like my car stereo - which paired with my Android, iPhone and WP7 phones without incident. It would sometimes ring in my Bose Series 2 earpiece, sometimes it wouldn't.

The N9 would sometimes hang up if I put somebody on hold. WP7 sometimes would hang up when I was switching between calls (prior to Mango). The battery life on both aren't really something I'd write home to anybody about but I find that my WP7 is lesser than my N9 on heavy usage.

But back to my statement about not being a typical phone user. I've figured out that I want a simple phone experience. In, out, informed in a moment's glance. Both WP7 and Harmattan give me that. I miss the time and notifications on my screen. Hell, I miss double tapping my screen to wake it up - man, I've been tapping on my monitors, my Xoom and TouchPad tablets, hell... I think I double tapped my car stereo!

But WP7 is a pretty easy to use OS. Harmattan is an easy to use OS. But as it stands, there's just a few apps that I want that Harmattan doesn't have. That and Skype video - which WP7 doesn't have yet either.

The only thing that bothers me, I know I'll be going back to my N9 once PR1.2 comes out. But there will be no Skype video calling. Just video calling via other means. They get that, they have a killer app. Skype is just so well built-in.

Lumia 900 in the US... means that everybody will think that I will have one of those phones when honestly I have the N9. That also aggravates me.

I had the same experience at the AT&T store on 5th ave an 48th street in manhattan. Went to get myself a micro sim for my N9 and the AT&T reps were going crazy over my N9.

I am due for an upgrade since last week and i will get the Lumia 900 when it comes out and keep it as a back up phone for work.

my big issue is that Nokia has bet the entire farm on Microsoft. What company even finds it acceptable to put the entire future of the company on another company?! Seriously, Microsoft owns Nokia right now..

What if Microsoft drops WP tomorrow? Nokia has no control or say in their future. Only control over hardware and Nokia drive..

Nokia is now just a hardware oem with no leverage.

In terms of hardware, the only control Nokia has is the design of the casing. The specs for WP7 hardware are controlled by Microsoft and are very tight. For example there is very little scope for a cheap WP7 phone.

As for Nokia Drive and Nokia Music they have been cracked and can be installed on any WP7 phone.
