Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
I've been running SFOS on FP2 for a few months now as daily work phone. Majority of it really works with no issues, and like Feathers said, the speed of operation is a world ahead of Jolla. Unfortunately I missed the Jolla C train, so can't compare with that.
There are the occasional glitches, like touch screen randomly becoming unresponsive (random ragetapping all over works to get it back though). Speaker volume is an issue, indeed, too. I deployed the Maps app from my original Jolla. Works fine. But looks like we're still stuck on 2.0.0.x. Not sure at all whether anyone is working on anything newer, I understand 2.0.2.x is around the corner? |

But no update instructions anywhere? Built-in update definitely doesn't Just Work(tm) |
Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
There is a a poll on Fairphone's Twitter:
Would you buy a Fairphone 2 with #Sailfish 2.0? https://twitter.com/Fairphone/status/748156649404248064 |

Our customers are over there and it would be plain commercial suicide to not be available on those channels. And the incentive to use other services or even come up with own implemetations even for small things like polls is nullified by the "It just works" theorem... |

the instructions for flashing 2.0.1 boot image are the same. i can give you a link, but don't know if mal will approve o_O it is his repo Also mal told me on the irq that OTA updates are not working atm. So reflashing is the only option right now |
Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
Android compatibility confirmed on Fairphone 2 with SFOS?
https://twitter.com/Fairphone/status/748159004543750144 There is a poll going on at the Twitter account of Fairphone, asking if you would buy the FP2 with SFOS2.X on it . Some dutch woman (who didn't heard about Sailfish OS before) asked to the guys at Fairphone what Sailfish is. They replied that it's an OS from Finland. She replied again and voted for no, because she wanted some OS that is "as clean as possible". The Fairphone guys replied, telling her that SFOS os is more clean then Android. She replied again: Then you will have the missing app problem (such as apps that are only available for Android) Then, the Fairphone guys replied again that you can use the PlayStore from Google on the Sailfish OS. Does this mean that FP2 will have the Android compt. layer? |
