Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Morning boys and girls,
So another week gone and no new info. Seriously considering binning this. Too many potential issues with this phone that I don't think I'll be able to sort out. I think this may have beaten my limited technical knowledge. |

When I was on webchat with them yesterday I brought up this issue of 'exclusivity' with them and the guy said they were only exclusive for contracts, not handsets. Hmm. I am pretty sure they did not word it that way in their original advertising of the product, though I would have to go back and check on that. If it turns out that I get my handset on the same day that anyone can walk into a Nokia flagship/retail and do the same, I will be mighty annoyed. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I got mines and it works flawlessly so i'd advise yo to get the device before you turn your back on it lol

Of course I wouldn't have bought the N900 directly anyway. I can't afford to buy it outright especially as I was getting a second T-Mobile contract next year WITHOUT a phone anyway, so this way I get the N900 really cheap. But as others have said, its the lack of communication and clearly Nokia at fault as THEY put MPD in charge of 99% of their retail operations. You give a company exclusive use to setup a retail chain using your company name, you take responsibility for that companies actions. As you so rightly point out, Nokia have a right to exclusivity. However they should make it perfectly clear what those terms are when telling MPD the date their stock will come in, not just leave them guessing. No matter how you look at this, Nokia are the ones who have caused it due to poor communication with everyone envolved. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Its definitely the lies that get me - if you don't know when you're getting it then just say you don't know!
I understand that Nokia get exclusivity etc, but if MPD get contract exclusivity, then its still unlikely they'll be beaten by Carphone Warehouse etc. I'm just going to sit it out - I'm another one in the T-Mobile camp. The deal just makes it too cheap to turn down. I'll wait, and maybe software issues will be fixed in the meantime. Looks like I'm stuck with Symbian for a little longer! Still - you'd think as an official reseller in the UK, Nokia would treat MPD with some respect and keep them posted. I also don't get how different people from MPD seem to say such different things all the time. Anyone have an update from NFS yet? I'd be interested to see when they're expecting them in, as they're actually operated by Nokia! |

the community will be all over any issues like a rash and I too am absolutely steaming about not having the damn thing in my hand but hang in there. In fairness to MPD, there is nothing else to say, they said Dec 3rd, and although I hate it, we are not there yet, and all the speculation is from us wanting the thing early. Alot of people have this phone and have no problems with it, though it is not really a fully featured phone - just dont give up as you will regret it |

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Anybody else get £2 withdrawn from their bank account today from T-Mobile? I have already done the credit check withdrawals and refunds as I ordered my N900 on 08/10

I already have two pay monthly numbers with T-M and I didn't see any credit/debits on my account in relation to my N900 order. However, a friend of mine who also placed order with MPD and got new T-M contract (not being their customer, that is), indeed had these £2 debit/credit on this account. |

Edit: Just to be clear they can keep my £4 if my phone is going to be dispatched on Monday!! lol |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I am a new T-mobile customer if that helps.
Bastards better not just be stealing 2 quid from me! |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I'm also a new T-Mobile customer. Currently on O2, haven't been with T-Mobile for nearly 2 years.
|
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Hooray i'm not the only one being robbed by T-Mobile! Difference is Dexter, I did get mine refunded back in early October when I ordered. Are we the early orderers perhaps?
|
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Hmmm, who do I contact regarding this? T-Mobile or MPD? I want my money back!!
[Edit] Just to make sure, it's simply a £2 transaction that should credit my account after the £2 transaction that debited my account? I'm looking down the Credit column on my statement for everything since 30th September and there's nothing even like £2!! |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
MPD I would of thought. Live chat might be a good idea, i'll head over now too.......

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Just thought this seems to be the place to look for all us MPD contract preorder customers and thought you guys may be able to help.
I only pre ordered my n900 a few weeks ago on a voda tariff, hardly no emails or updates from MPD and just shows my status as "pending stock" (I have read prev post and I realise why.) But as I have not ordered a mobile via internet before, what exactly is process.?? Do they get em in stock, do credit check etc and then despatch or do they "pre credit check" you before any stock arrives??...as no communication from MPD I am just confused. Makes me think maybe just wait till avail in shops....far easier - all doen n dusted there and then. No money has been taken from my bank at all.. or Voda not do that? The credit check aint an issue as I have 1 O2 contract (iphone) and a t-mobile contract too... I aint bothered when handset arives as such, but just some clarification on how my order is progressing would be nice from MPD.. New here and great forum and info too... any help appreciated, cheers guys (n girls) Gez |

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Haha same! I'm gonna keep refreshing though until I get through, that £2 would buy me a pint, well 2/3's of a pint haha!
Would be interesting to know where those who haven't had the £2 withdrawal today are in the queue as I think you and I would be quite high up in the queue..... |

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
My balance is down 2.50 but can't see if this is the same thing or not. Can't think of anything else it could be so going to assume it is and hope that this is the process finally getting underway

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
On the phone... saying it's because they have to do a "mini check" after the previous check was done so long ago...money should have been refunded....need to email them.
|
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
my hope is that they've received their order. This post suggests that Nokia flagship London might have theirs (shop is still closed when it should be open!) and I'm hoping MPD got theirs as part of the same delivery.
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=1565 Of course, this is utterly vacant speculation, so feel free to ignore this stuff. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
That message on the chat saying no-one is available and it might not be office hours is the biggest joke ever! Its midday, have they all p1ssed off to the pub for lunch?!
|
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
The Live Chat never works for me - tried it a few days ago, just constantly waiting for rep? ? ... lol..mind you considering so many prob in same boat as me they ignore the chats cos too busy...
