I know that, but why BSNL will offer 3G speed at the rate of 2g?Is there any fault in their system?

Hey, Guys my meamo istallation got corrupted and i went for a nokia service centre in bangalore and the fun part is to relflash the OS and format the emmc they need to send it to nodia and they need 20 days for the roundtrip

And with an hour of maemo wiki , I was able to do it myself,
quite easy process but with certain level of risk

Long live the community support !

Guys, anybody know the warranty period for N900 in India? Is it 2 year (like the Europeans here) or is it 1 year?

arora.rohan 2011-09-16 15:34

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?

1 year...word.

ejasmudar 2011-09-16 15:56

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?

oh damn! ;(
that means my warranty gets over in a week!!! Oh god, I am getting tensed now. gotta find somebody to solder that USB port down.
You sure about that 1 year warranty right?

arora.rohan 2011-09-16 16:08

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?

USB port is covered after warranty also..i got my N900 fixed for free even after my warranty was over.. yes im sure

and you can get extended warranty from a Nokia care center for just rs 1440... but you have to get it before your warranty gets over! :)

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?

Hello guys, did u install NITDroid and connect to Internet via Network Provider? Coz I am having difficulty connecting to Internet via TATA Docomo (Primary Phone No.)?

I have tested with the following networks so far :
i) TATA Docomo (2G) : Shows "No Service", NET & SMS Not Working, if I try calling.. I get the "No-SIM or No-Service" error
ii) Vodaphone (2G) : NET Worked (Friend's SIM), SMS Works, Calling Works (But den no Voice)
iii) !dea (3G) : NET doesn't work, SMS Works, Calling Works (No Voice) (Office No.)

I don't wanna change TATA Docomo No., have a nice thing going on with it (long hours chit-chat.. etc)

So any Help?

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?

i had tried Nitdroid before. I got it to connect to my BSNL 3g. I had to enter the settings manually

cooldubai 2011-09-20 09:04

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?

I manually added the APN setting for all the three networks, even called the Network Providers up for confirming the settings.

ejasmudar 2011-09-20 10:40

Re: Is anyone using a N900 in India?

hmm, now i remember there was another setting also that had to be changed. i dont have nitdroid to check it now, but I think I posted it in the nitdroid thread. I'll try to dig it up.

Hi. m planning on buying a new phone in the next month or so. my obvious choice was the N9 (sad about the HW keyboard though). However, since its still unclear whether it will be launched in india or not, I was wondering if the N900 is worth spending the 26k bucks it will cost (new phone) considering that its almost 2 years old now.

any ideas suggestions?? btw i honestly m not considering any other phone besides the N9 n N900.

Honestly? No.
Despite all its advantages, it is a 2 year old hardware. And in themobile world, thats like atleast a decade old. Your best bet would be to wait for the N9. Even if not released in India, you would atleast be able to get an N9 from ebay.in

In my opinon, just wait for a few months, worst comes to worst, you can still buy an N900 for less money.

Or they're working on porting Meego to HTC HD2 and Samsung GS2. You might just get lucky!
