Unfortunately no, our responsibility is developing games, it's the big boys' job to distribute them. We're all seeing the challenges of setting up a marketplace with the Ovi Store, it would be utterly foolish for a small studio like us to try to tackle the same problem field.

Thanks, Frand - bad news are better than no news! :)

Though I really wanted to play your games - now there's just to hope you'll eventually port it to MeeGo and THAT will have a better store. :(

Zen Inbound - bug found?

When you are wrapping around in the game and you get a hildon banner, something interesting happens.
In my case I was roaming and got a hildon banner telling me that "cellulair data is not available", which I am sure other Zen Inbound road warriors may get as well.

You don't notice the bug as you can keep playing without problems, until you raise the menu options. None of the buttons work anymore!
Switching to dashboard, closing the game (buttons above), ending the session or restarting the session (buttons bellow) do not respond.
The menu simply disappears again and all you can do is keep playing or click the menu button bellow again.

You're stuck.

The only way to exit the game is to use the CTRL Backspace shortcut on the keyboard and touch the "X" to close it.
I haven't repeated the bug, but I will try since I roam the same way back and will get a hildon banner again when playing.

To be continued...

I can probably confirm the bug for Zen Bound, not sure what you have been playing. Don't remember exactly how it got to a state described but unresponsiveness to reset and end game occur in certain situations.

i've gotten this behaviour as well, sometimes when re-playing a just finished object.

the buttons will respond, but only to an extremely rapid fingernail tap (as fast as you can). try that and see if it solves the unreponsiveness issue.

Some users have reported issues with SPiN failing to start unless its configuration file is manually deleted. An update to the problem has just been approved by Ovi Store QA and the new version should be available for download soon.

@Frand
Any figures you can release regarding any of the released games?
If not are you and the company selling enough in your opinion to keeps supporting the Maemo platform?
Brilliant games by the way I have bought all releases and will continue to koodos.

No, no... we're not commenting on sales numbers or future support after this short period of time, understanding a sales channel takes a bit more data over a longer time period :)

For all you who have Zen Bound and would like to have the soundtrack in your music library, we're now giving the ZB and ZB2 music albums away on our website.

Enter your email at http://zenbound.com to subscribe to our newsletter, and you'll get a download link to both albums.

We've also just submitted an update over to Ovi Store QA review. This version fixes the button responsiveness issue that was brought to our attention.

I can't speak for Ovi on how quickly the update may be approved, expect a delay of a number of days :)

Shiny! :)
(Though it's a bit cruel, receiving updates on games I cannot yet get my hands on... :D)

I love the Ghost Monkey line of music, and Rebound just turned into my new soundtrack for everyday life.

Just got notice that the update to Zen Bound should now be available on the Ovi Store. This update should fix the reported in-game button responsiveness issue.

Cool...

Wanted to update, but Ovi Store says that I've reached the limit of downloads and I should conteact the consumer care or buy it again.
Contacted, but no reaction.
I won't buy it a second time, because I'm not paying for a defined amount of downloads, but for the game itself.
Well done Ovi Store...

Is the update going to be available through app manager or is it necessary to go to Ovi Store and download the game again from there? What is the version number of update?

I haven't got an update notification, but frand said, that there is an update. So I assume that we have to redownload it, and that's problematic since we only have five download at the Ovi store before the download get locked.
I don't understand why the Ovi Store just allows five downloads at an application which gets updates...
At least it should be five downloads per version-number...

Commercial applications are downloaded from OVI directly as .deb files and installed, so they don't actually appear in the OVI repository. This means you have to redownload each update (and figure out whether there's been an update, as the OVI store doesn't provide any version information).

I went through and found both SPiN and Zen Bound had been updated since I first downloaded them.

Nathraiben 2010-07-23 17:40

Re: Secret Exit's official N900 games thread

At least the free apps from the OVI store are getting updates automatically through the application manager, so I guess you shouldn't have to re-download paid apps, either.

Maybe there's a *coughoneofmanycough* bug keeping the newest version of Zen Bound from appearing in your update list. I'd wait a couple of days to play it save (and keep searching for updates manually in the application manager - sometimes the notification icon doesn't work like it's supposed to).

There I stand corrected. ;)

Though then I REALLY don't get this stupid 5 downloads limit... does that mean you have to re-purchase the application every 5 updates...???
(That is, IF you even realise it has been updated. :p )

I think that Angry Birds update came to me through app manager. That is ofcourse from different publisher and free but from Ovi anyway.

If the situation is really the way you described for all paid content then this really is a problem, five downloads is really little (a couple of updates, a couple of reflashes, and one download that goes wrong and that's it).

Yes, free apps get updated fine, as you just download the .install file from the store, then the package is installed from the OVI repository. Whenever the version in the repository gets updated, you get an update notification.

Seems that with N900 I learn something new every day :D

Well, sometimes it is just these plain stupid things like this

But luckily there are also things like FCam API

Yes, I've read about how helpful they are... :p
(Though if I was in that situation I guess I would still try - after all, Nokia Austria seems to be BY FAR more supportive than the rest, actually, what I've seen of them so far they're more like what Nokia as a whole should have been.)

But that's more fitted for the OVI thread - let's not defile Secret Exit's lovely home any more. :D
*still patiently waiting for a way to get both games - and hopefully any that might come out in the future*

This is a silly question, I know ... but ...

When I re-download will it keep my progress through the game so far?
