Re: Pictures: Nokia N9 Real leak

Are there any tech specs available about the N9? Thinking specifically about screen size/resolution.

Re: Pictures: Nokia N9 Real leak

I hope this is a fake. It looks like the N8 with a keyboard and I personally think the N8 is ugly, I perfer the look of the N900. That N9 pic looks cheap, but then again I'll probly get one anyways.

Re: Pictures: Nokia N9 Real leak

If the specs on the n8 are anything to go by (and both phones look quite similar) the n9 is likely to stick with a 3.5 inch sreen. A bit of a pity, I'm starting to like the look of the larger screen phones available

4 inch screen on N9.

The guy doing this review is an idiot.

The phone clearly says C0. Why does he have to call it N9?

Oh, and he saw the marking, and he still is making guesses! Idiot may have been an understatement...

C0 is a standad prototype Name.
The N900 had N00 printed on it for example.

Still, "N" would signify N-series. The phones are clearly different. I don't run a tech-blog but I see it, why doesn't he?

This just in:

"we're going to go out on a limb and pronounce the leaked N9 as the highly anticipated MeeGo handset, which Nokia is prepping for release by the end of the year.

We compared some photos of the newly leaked N9 with the recently released MeeGo OS developer version and found that the icons in the taskbar were identical."

I hope they don't have those pull out plastic parts to cover the ports (as in the vid) they always wear and end up looking Tacky!

It's not a C-Series phone, these are clearly different.
From a design point of view the E7 COULD also be a N8-02, a Nokia N8 with hardware keyboard.
I thought so, too in the past because of the incredible similarity.
But I was told that it is the E7.

Thats a pretty thin limb they are going out on!

This fone looks pretty ugly to me.reminds me of one of thoes electrolic diarys back in the early 90s.maybe its the colour that makes it looks gross.

Re: Pictures: Nokia N9 Real leak

Has anybody seen reliable info how thick this N9 is? The pictures don't seem to give a good scale for estimation.

My biggest beef with N900 is its thickness, it just doesn't fit into my hand nor my pockets comfortably. I really hope this will be thinner.

thin would be nice, but it's not a big issue for me even if it's thick! I have my N900 with a mugen power battery attached in my pocket right now and even that thickness doesn't bother me :)

edit: I guess what I'm trying to say is that I will always choose function over form, ALWAYS!

Re: Pictures: Nokia N9 Real leak

E7, N9 honestly I don't really "trust" anything until I have heard solid proof of what these prototype units are.

I know some sites have been pretty bang on with what these units are but even then I still don't like to get my hopes up to much until I have heard more.

1,4 cm thick.

Thanks, somewhat slimmer then, N900 is something like 1,8 cm.

1,9 cm, so the N9 is a half cm thinner.

Re: Pictures: Nokia N9 Real leak

There is way to much dead area (LCD coverage) on the screen surface.
The phone could've been way smaller?

Re: Pictures: Nokia N9 Real leak

Looks ruddy awful to me. Kind of circa 1999. But it is a prototype. (hopefully)

I won't be buying nokia again so don't bother me. On the only plus side I can see from the very limited specs and usage you can get from the photos, if it is real, they have a proper looking keyboard instead of this god awful crammed in affair that the N900 and N97 has.

Re: Pictures: Nokia N9 Real leak

Yes it's a prototype but i don't see big changes happening. I don't mind that as i love that industrial aluminium design.

Btw Eldar commented that the all black version of N9 will be the one that will be mostly advertised.

He is complicated. I know of following him in MR forums for years that he really does know what he is talking, but i'm not too sure anymore. It just might be that Nokia have finally been able to close his source so that he at least don't get the devices anymore.

Well wasn't it not that long ago Nokia was "looking" for him about the N8 device that he had?

I recall reading something about it on Gizmodo or another similiar site.

yes, he is very intelligent and his market analysises are mostly correct.
for example samsung is doing a really good job this year.
but *I think* that companies can buy him and that often he is influenced by his feelings and is not objective.

xD and you think the americans were never at the moon, too?
Here is nothing supervisioned by Nokia.
Think logic: how much coverage it gets here? And how much on ALL THE OTHER SITES on the net?
Like engadget and so on which have that story as breaking news in their headlines.
And the newspapers?
How is Nokia supposed to stop them talking about it?
:rolleyes::rolleyes:

WTF as other sites got to do with it
Nokia pay the bills for this site and can limit discussion on here if they wish.
we have seen before Nokia influence pull certain things and kill discussion on here before, it is not as community run as ppl think b/c when Nokia speaks the people running this site listen.
btw if you've got nothing better to do than trying to make ppl look stupid with sarcastic moon bs you need to get out more.
you know it all so why not explain why a discussion about a Nokia device running harmattan-MeeGo got removed from harmattan forum into off-topic?

Since it is now in general, how do you justify your Nokia-conspiracy?
And to clarify this for the other readers:
This site _IS_NOT_ paid by Nokia.
The servers are.
Paid by Nokia would mean Nokia is paying the admin and the mods and the council to run this site.
That is not the case.

I will offer you something.
What do you think about changing the sponsor?
From now on YOU will pay the bills for the server and you'll get ALL the power Nokia does have at this very moment over this very site.
Would you agree?

The choice that Nokia is paying the bills was made to unify maemo.org and internettablettalk.com (which was the name of this site before, you can still check it out).

Other sites have to do with it this:
At the moment there are 279 members and 923 guests online on talk.maemo.org
currently viewing this thread are 26 members and 20 guests and there are 278 posts in this thread
Only the engadget article does have 399 retweets 343 "like-this" on facebook and 372 comments.
And this is only engadget.
Even real-paper newspapers are writing about the leaked N9.

Why should Nokia care about this thread?

As I said, think logical.

edit: btw. I agree with you that this thread was not right in OffTopic.

I'm not a fan of the form, but I know good hype when I see it.

You meaan the hype like N900 got whan it was released ? Remember even then the blogosphere was ticking with the N900 and the Maemo goodness - till fo course it fizzled.

I am having a hard time in avoiding this gadget - but will steele myself up to avoid this untill the initial hype is over and I can see the rough edges that MeeGo might have on the N9.
In fact now I am more inclined to go with a stable Symbian N8 (love the 12 MP camera - provided it takes shots equiv to good point-and-shoots) and wait for a MeegO Tablet instead - cause the rumoured screen resolution of N9 doesnt look good to me.
