Re: [Announce / WIP] Theme Customizer - customize your N900

This app is great. By setting larger font size, I no longer need to take off my Rx spectacles while browsing address book & messages.

One thing to report, I rec'd a upgrade notice on Wednesday (I guess it was version 0.9.13). After installing the upgrade, the desktop crashed, it did come up but some areas were randomly missing. The problem existed even after reboot. I solved it by uninstalling the app and re-installing it.

I rec'd another upgrade notice again (0.9.15). I installed it and it works fine so far.

One more suggestion, your app allows changing font colors by entering color codes. I guess most users do not know the color codes, would it be possible to provide a color chart for user's selection?

Many thanks!

TC

And you do have extras-devel enabled and you first ran the remove -command?

It's already there, just tap / click on the name of the font you want to change and color picked dialog will pop up ;)

Okay. Hard to tell what's wrong. I'm gonna revert things back tomorrow and also try to bring back the preview icons for background changer.

I'm away from computer today so can't do anything right now.

don't shoot yourself just yet. mine works, (0.9-15 worked for me too) one crash when i pressed to select color from the pallette, but only once. one thing i noticed, when i set the settings to the way they were before update, the desktop icon backrounds in pleego blue changed to the semi transparent ones from the pleegostyle that they were before? i'm using bluesky-icons as i was using before update too. and the thumbnails in backround selector works again! thanks!

Color Picker indeed crashes sometimes, but that's just because it's so buggy in Maemo port of Qt (i.e. blame Nokia) :)

The other question I couldn't understand, sorry :D

Looks like I have to do small update to Plastic Theme Setup :)

To fix it now, do following:
Type these into terminal:
sudo gainroot
rm -rf /opt/theme-customizer/backups/opt/usr/share/themes/blackplastictheme-themedir

Then run Plasric Theme Setup once and choose scheme you want to use.
Then run Theme Customizer with your desired settings.

You need to run the rm -command every time you change scheme and are about to run customizer.

Add more opacity to widgets from theme customizer and you'll see the borders. Note that it scales from 0 to 255 where zero means completely transparent and 255 is maximum opacity.

Hi,

Form last source: French translation.

For the next translation could you add:
- First progress screen "Reading ..."
- All background windows text
- Fix dialogbox Import Fonts, the "Yes" and "No" buttons.
- Fix button "Done" in About Dialog

Re: [Announce / WIP] Theme Customizer - customize your N900

I'm having problems getting Themes to work. I've tried the latest version of Theme Customizer (0.9-16) via Application Manager (HAM), maemo.org, rebooted twice, and the Themes menu do not show up when I click it from the Desktop menu. Changing backgrounds do work though (through mildon & Theme Customizer), but the Themes menu would not pop up, and I'd like to be able to switch between my favorite themes.

Uninstalling Theme Customizer should revert back to default shortcut, but unfortunately that did NOT fix the Themes menu not showing up so I'd rather reinstall Theme Customizer again. Any other way to fix this/wait for another update?

I see great potential in Theme Customizer so I'd like to request some certain features I find fit for this application.

[Feature Request]
I think it would make much more sense if I can choose whichever themes I want (an-DROID, Marina, The Matrix, etc.) from within Theme Customizer, and when I long press for Desktop menu to check my Themes, I'd like it so that it would automatically open up Theme Customizer (like a shortcut) rather having nothing happen (when I click Themes).

[Feature Request]
Also, I'd like an option where I can "save current settings as new theme" just as how Windows themes work. Whenever something is modified say a text color or background image, I want it so that TC is able to detect something has been modified and I want to be able to save that as a theme so I can easily switch between that and another theme.

[Feature Request]
Last but not least, I want it so that TC can auto-detect/auto-scan for new themes at startup whether they are located at a certain directory that you assign it to scan at or at its default directory (if any). It should be able to detect theme files in .deb format as well as folders (folder's name will show up in the list of themes) with the theme contents (.png files organized by filename) inside. Thanks!

That's easy, should it also automaticly make coffee and keep your girlfriend satisfied?

Just kidding :P

My diagnose for your themes not be selectable anymore is because you have installed a) widgets gallery or b) Meego theme.

Edit: I'm working on saving / loading presets (or should I say color themes) that you can easily access in Theme Customizer.

Really appreciate the effort on this, amazing.

I have one (small?) request. In the latest version there's the option to chance lock screen, app man background etc. Could you make it so wew can also change the lock slider on the lock screen?

Hi!

What are the prerequisites for fonts to work? I'm trying to get a .otf to work, but it won't appear in the list. Theme Customizer (TC) finds the font file apparently from .MyDocs, as if the otf is in ~/.fonts it (correctly I suppose) complains of a font not found. Does the font name have to be somehow formatted or does it matter? Is there a way to check if a font is usable on the N900?

Also, I'm using HAM - it's too slow/painful to check the version from there, the 'about' box does suggest 'donate beer' but doesn't show version info.. or am I missing something? Anyways, I started using TC today, so I think I got the latest version.

Anyway, great app!

Filename shouldn't matter. You can see if the font is regognized by the device by opening notes (or any other text editor) and see if you can find the font listed there. Reboot might bring it visible also. Note that fonts are listed in alphabetichal order by font name, not by it's filename.

I will add the version number next to "donate me a beer" line :)

The font is missing from all the lists. Reboots didn't help =(

I'll maybe try to convert the font to ttf.

I had to cp the fonts to /usr/share/fonts/nokia for anything to show up. Also, I did chmod 777 to the files, just to be sure =P
Not sure if that mattered.

Version 0.9-20 uploaded to repos with following changes:
- made almost all strings translateable
- added color presets function (beta stage)

Still need to fo:
- add warning dialog when deleting color preset
- add warning dialog when overwriting color preset
- modify about dialog to show version number
- make about dialog button translateable

But now I'd like to hear some comments about color presets :)

Well, they're very easy to use. Depends on the user naturally :D

Maybe you could also save as a preset the default colors when TC 0.9-21 is installed if someone doesn't realize to do that in the first place, thus losing the original scheme?

Also, I found out that the buttons etc aren't automagically generated from the colors that TC can change. :p Bummer.

Hi,

French translation.

In the main windows, the 2 buttons "Colors presets" and "Save color preset" aren't translating, i not found strings in French.ts and the first splash screen and progress too "reading settings".

In the background manager, could you make the text (applications name) on 2 lines ?.
See my screenshot.

A small bug, i want to save a preset with the name "Par défaut", it's ok to save but in load presets it appear to "Pardéfaut" you trim the space.

Thanks again :)

Oops, sorry, I put those into finnish .ts -file, but forgot to add those into french one. I can add those if you give me correct translations for those here :)

You can place line break into the translation file by typing in \n where ever you want the line break to be.

It's not a bug. Name of the scheme is directly the filename so I strip whitespaces just to make sure everything is working.
