yes! It is faster and if you want even faster install Plastic theme pack. Then n900 is so much faster :). I love it!

Can't update directly from my n900, is there is another way to do it via pc ?
because my connection bandwidth is capped at the moment to dial-up, it will take forever to download it from the app manager.

f**** ISP I pay them about 30 usd every month for 512 connection with limited bandwidth of 4 gb

anyways, has anyone noticed any major bug with the new update ?

did anyone manage to add Maemo Extras-devel and Maemo Extras-testing devel?
I've changed Distribution: freemantle-1.2 to freemantle-1.3, but the catalogues failed to refresh :S

Installed PR1.3, now reinstalling apps. Couple of them were refused to be installed. Overall performance indeed seems to improve, phone is more responsive, scrolling/switching is faster :)

Do Bluetooth keyboards finally work without hacking up the new OS? Bluetooth mouse support? USB keyboard/mouse support? External hard drive support? Just curious, since I think most of these things needed to be hacked into the system with 1.2, right?

upgraded over the air with no pain this afternoon.

main issue seems to be the performance hit on this forum!

overall impression seems to be that it is a solid set of bug fixes and performance improvements.

I have done upgrade through Faster Application Manager..But, I do not see much improvements..(or I would say that I failed to notice that some bugs are fixed and performance improved.)..So far noticed that whenever I receive call, my call UI does not flicker..also I felt browsing OVI catalogue is much faster..(but that depends on internet speed? Earlier at same speed..OVI store was bit slower..)

What is the best way to know that you are really running 1.3..I checked from settings->about product..I see that version is 20.2010.36.2 . But, does that really mean PR 1.3 is successfully installed?

Why these questions..because FAPMAN did not ask me to reboot...I have done that manually and saw not much difference in using..So what am I missing to notice in PR1.3?

Re: PR 1.3 is live now! (Released 25 October 2010)

I couldn't update via the application manager (even though I had 86MB free in my rootfs, and the update only needs about 84.5MB free), and then I tried updating via PC Suite and Ovi Suite, but both are rubbish with the N900 and usually just throw errors while trying to update, so finally I managed to update via the 'Faster Application Manager'.

Now everything is updated, but besides the fact that the device seems to be running a bit faster, I don't see any difference...

Seems like I was right! I knew it is coming :D
And people said I'm lying in my previous post.
When Nokia uploading it to the Repository the App Manger can sometimes detected the changes and then it appeared in my App manager but the size is still Zero is because of the upload hasn't completed or still not yet get the green light.

Now I'm going to say: I told you so. :D

POS.. when trying OTA it says it can't update need to do it via pc suite. Installed pc suite aftere removing ovi since ovi said no updates, pc suite recognizes the device and said to install updater as this one is not working anymore. so installed NSU separately than it keeps searching for device and says device not found try again.. This is even when pcsuite shows it's connected to n900. POS company and software support for n900 all i can say. Glad i moved on to iphone 4 since last ttwo months.

When I try ti upgrade Maemo 5, I click on details and then the problems tab.

It says unable to Install Maemo 5 because I'm missing Hildon-Desktop??

Whats up with that??

Can anyone confirm the number of packages for this Update pack? I was checking on FAM and saw Maemo 5 but did not choose it, I just chose to update 1 of my apps, but no idea why it downloaded the PR 1.3 and is installing. Number of packages shown on my FAM: 1042 - 1043. I'm just afraid it can not finish because it will remove FAM (a 3rd party app).

That is the same problem as me before. The problem is you've got the hildon-desktop kenetic installed. Try find a way to uninstall it then you'll be able to install the update.

I got this problem before in my previous thread and people accusing me of installed PR1.3 leaked lol. People here can sometimes very mean and ignorant lol

Ask Mohammad to post the original version of hildon-desktop package incase this problem occur again.

This is what I want to do to those who said I'm a lier a couple of days before the actual released...

is this normal? I have my phone attached via usb and am using ovi suite to download the image. It has gotten 13mb in 45 minutes.

also is it installing it to the phone as it goes or is it just putting it on my laptop? because I would hate to have my phone unusable with its usb connected for like 10 more hours. plus with the delicate connection my 2 year old is going to knock this cable out for sure when she is home in an hour :(

libqt-test (came here with n900ftp which sucked anyway) seems to be the major OTA stumbling block. had to remove it too...

Upgraded OTA. Seems pretty snappy.

I'm seeing two problems:
- MFE sync w/ my Google Calendar (not MFE sync to Gmail or Contacts) is failing. Used to work fine.
- Media Player no longer sees FLACs.

Is anyone else having this issue with the Conversation? My conversation stopped listing new SMS and cannot send until I delete all my history and reboot.

Quite weird lol. But anyway I need a clean inbox anyway.

Re: PR 1.3 is live now! (Released 25 October 2010)

The pr1.3 update is rather uninteresting.

Performance "improvements" is nice but that's it.

Access to music store via browser - Yawn!!
Ovi Suite improvements - Yawn!
Ovi Maps has button to re-calculate route - Yawn!

This is almost as underwhelming as England's performance in the World Cup!

I'm sticking with pr1.2 for the time being.

Oh and maemo.org is overloaded too - "nice".

Phew, finally upgraded fine with FAM. I lost about 10MB of rootfs though (after rebooting).

Can someone that updated through HAM post the new OVI Store link in microB browser? Seems like FAM didn't update mine, so it's displaying this message "Upgrade your Nokia N900 to enter Ovi Store"...

WTF!! My SMS stopped working every time I send out the sms via reply!!!!!! I think libqt sms messaging is conflicting with the old one.

If I restart then I will get the SMS reply and it will display in the Conversations list. This is terrible I need to do a clean reflash of this.

As you can see the β release of Nokia Software Updater provided the same excellent service the previous version has provided for me. If you look closely at the background of the image outside the β NSU window you can see I was prepared to deal with this.

Try updating in App manager again. There are some updates that run after the PR 1.3 upgrade - I think this may fix the issue for you.

Ok finally updated using FAM otherwise nokia's own methods were useless. Lost teh multi boot feature of android / power kernal / normal but retained kernal settings and still having 1.1Ghz o/cd. Rest all apps still same no data loss of any kind. Now need to reformat the 8gb card as i dont need android anymore. I'm happy with iphone4 1000s of apps.

Performance at 1.1ghz seems better than before cept the standard apps manager is still taking ages to show updates.

i think i got the same problem. tried to do the install, Ovi Suite prompts that an operation is still going on. So I just made a back up first and then tried to do it on the phone, prompted me to do the install on the ovi suite, deleted a few apps, made a back up on my mmc and rebooted the phone.

did the install again and now it advanced up until the installing part. but for some reason it got stuck, haha ovi suite got stuck halfway. a window came up saying that the install failed and i need to do it on pc suite wtf? checked my phone, checked the version it was the same one you guys got except for the fact that it stripped the phone of all my apps, skins and all.

so do we need to run pc suite just to proceed with this install?

is there something i am missing? seems to me ovi suite is now stuck halfway. do i close out the program and try to do it again?
