Re: Nemo mobile discussions
@ w00t. I don't know about that. I think it's good to show the bits of progress you make because it shows that the platform is still alive, and it might encourage a few more people to test out the images or even contribute some code.

Re: Nemo mobile discussions
w00t, please continue to post screenshots. I for one am very interested in Nemo, but not quite enough to make me reflash my N900, so rely on screenshots and videos to see how things are progressing.

First of all, thanks a lot w00t for all your work and keeping this thread alive. :)
Secondly, I take this as motivation to also post some screenshots of some work Nicola and me are doing. We are currently working on the qmlcalendar app. Attached screenshots show the icon that displays the current day of month. This functionality is essentially based on thp's script for Harmattan and was adapted to work with Nemo as systemd service. Thanks again thp. :) Furthermore, it is possible to switch between months by using a swipe gesture. That's what the last image is supposed to show. It is admittedly a little hard to see but this last image was taken while swiping from right to left. |

This is good because it's accurate: here's what we have now - but it's not in a product-ready state at all. Far from it. And the criticism that it looks bad is totally correct. |

I think you should either lock orientation to portrait, or try do some work to adapt to a landscape layout, because right now, it's not that great. Also, when panning across months, it might be nice to animate the movement of the month name, too. BTW, what's your nick on IRC? Would be nice to know who I'm talking to :-) |
Re: Nemo mobile discussions
Great work w00t and Wonko! Nemo is going very well!

Re: Nemo mobile discussions
I spent last night prototyping code sharing between applications on the platform. The end result is that the contacts application can now use the gallery's UI for picking avatars:

Thank you for the news about continuing development :)
I have tested almost every release of Meego Community Edition and Nemomobile. When we will be able to test that new stuff? |

The conversations will be capable to use sms/msn/facebook/google talk plugins like maemo?
I asked to Jolla in twitter "The RPM packages will be compatibles with Nemo ?" @JollaMobile With small modifications, probably yes. Good news, I think... |
Re: Nemo mobile discussions
I decided to jump on the Nemo bandwagon and spent the past couple of days porting Tizmee, my Tizen web app compatibility layer, to Nemo. So here's a pretty screenshot of Nemo running a Tizen app:

Strange thing is that sometimes it is impossible to set the date&time&timezone - the values just do not apply... However - keep up good work :) |
Re: Nemo mobile discussions
This is looking great! And I would love to put Nemo no my N9! But, noone's answering me if I can do a triple boot? I have NITDroid on my N9 along with Harmattan.. Is there a way to boot into Nemo too? And is there a documentation or wiki that would guide me to do such thing?

It is possible to run some Tizen applications on Nemo via Tizmee. But it's not possible to dual-boot Nemo and Tizen on any hardware at the moment if that's what you meant. |
Re: Nemo mobile discussions
Thanks w00t for ur answer.. I guess I'll until somebody comes up with a new boot for the N9.. I really would love to try Nemo..

Re: Nemo mobile discussions
Thanks again to 'special', Conversations will be having its first release sometime this week, some screenshots (note that these are really being used, not just mockups anymore):
http://i.imgur.com/jOp1c.png http://i.imgur.com/VLfbV.png http://i.imgur.com/IaThn.png http://i.imgur.com/aRcQe.png Now, a little about what Conversations is... It's an IM application, using Telepathy for the messaging part. Out of the box, it should support Jabber, possibly Facebook, etc, etc. It's the same plumbing as what the N9 (and N900, and other Maemo devices) use under the hood. With some work, it should also be able to support SMS (thanks to telepathy-ring), but that's not done yet. What also hasn't been done (yet) is to provide a way to easily configure accounts, set them online, etc. You'll need to do that via a command line tool called 'mc-tool'. All in all, this is very much 0.0.1-style stuff at the moment, fairly basic in terms of functionality etc, so don't expect everything to just work™, but it's some more very promising progress! I'll be trying to help get the first release pushed to OBS (and Nemo) in the next day or so. I've also nagged special to come post in this thread, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask, and hopefully he'll be able to help. |
Re: Nemo mobile discussions
Good morning everyone!
The concept has been proven. Yes, it is possible to create a nice and cool looking desktop user experience with QML. This is based on w00t's prototype called "lipstick". There's still work to be done, but for the moment, let me present you a video on my progress: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zg0NvSaXmY What works right now: - App launcher - Task switcher - Status bar - Automatic rotation Thanks for watching! If you have any opinions / recommendations / ideas / questions, please don't hesitate to reply to this thread. :) FAQ: - Yes, I want it to have widgets. - Yes, I want it to have an event feed. |

Re: Nemo mobile discussions
I am also seeing an issue with the Helium browser. When i open a web page then swipe on the edges to go to multitasking view, switch to some other application and then return back to the browser, the browser shows a dark screen :( . Is any one else seeing this?
