Off Topic here really.

http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU/...witcher_Layout

You will have to find a way of editing your transitions.ini, your .ini file could be in opt/ if using a custom theme, see the top of the wiki page for more info.

Thanks - there is an issue though - to apply the change it is mentioned to use "killall hildon-desktop" - it is somehow a different behavior than what happens when i use the "apply" button in the CSSU Features configuration application - i wondered if there is another available way to apply the change.

If this is not the place to post this - where should i do that?

[Edit ] nevermind - it seems that just changing the value works - just need to rotate to make it visible.

Thanks.

No worries, as you worked out some of things in transitions don't require a restart of h-h

impeham 2012-11-22 23:19

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

By the way - command to change the value:

sed -i "s/\("taskswitcher" *= *\).*/\1"1"/" "/usr/share/hildon-desktop/transitions.ini"

the "1" is the value which will be set in this example to the key "taskswitcher".

Curious to know if the open source camera app is good enough for CSSU stable? Any updates for CSSU stable? I like the new power kernel 52 usb features... :)

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

(Forgive me if this is not the right thread to post in...)

Finally installed CSSU Stable and got 4.1
However now my open ports are not accessible.
I have installed ssh and samba, but they are not accessible nor is a ping. I can access ssh locally and I see my ports listening.

Google did not help me, so now I'm here.
Hope it's a feature I've overlooked... can provide logs if needed.

Both will not be considered for stable in the near future. As long as there is no freedom of choice.

The ports problem?! That should not have anything to do with cssu. I have no samba installed though.

CSSU-Stable 5 is here.

Merry X-Mas!

EDIT: As wiki is r/o...

updates curl and therefor libcurl, libqt4 and osso-wlan
introduces osso-xterm and libxml2

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

Many thanks chemist!
Just in time for the boring x-mas days :-D Also showing that "maemo not dead"

I again like to emphasize that
CSSU is now recommended for every N900 user
There might be changes pending which may get introduced by migration of maemo infra and which are best to catch up in CSSU
CSSU-Stable is about fixing bugs and vulnerabilities in your stock fremantle system, to keep your N900 working like you're used to it and love it.

Season's greetings to everyone!

The incorrect version in HAM "Application details" is a known flaw and a special gimmick of chemist ;-D
Please forgive the minor inconvenience. It's really CSSU-Stable 21.2011.38-1Smaemo5, and it should indentify as such, once installed/updated.

No inconvenience I just thought I'd report.
I can confirm it is the correct package and installs perfectly.

True, I noticed myself... I do not want to update the meta-package again as in two weeks or three you will get another update. It installs 5.0.

Thanks for the report anyway! Good to have people around noticing stuff we miss out on. This time it was just a version string in the info :) hopes up I do not mess up other parts :)

I've narrowed it down to an arp issue. The N900 does not respond to arp requests anymore. I have to ping the other device, before it can connect with the services available on the N900 :(

How can we get this fixed?

Type "sudo gainroot" in a terminal and then type "apt-get update" then reboot.
Go into your App manager and select updates, it should work then

Power Saving Settings of Wifi? Could it be, that Wifi goes into power safe, thus needing to be activated from the phone it self with some network using software and that's why it does not respond to a request from the outside?

I had this on one of my N900's with the latest stable.
It was two conflicting packages.

apt-get and a reboot seemed to fix, nothing major.
Was qmlviewer IIRC.

@zero
You need to provide more information of the error, via the problems tab or apt-get.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

I am not succeeding in upgrading to the latest stable CSSU, I am running into the following dependency problems:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mp-fremantle-community-pr: Depends: libcurl3 (>= 7.26.0-1maemo1+0cssu1) but 7.25.0-1maemo7 is to be installed
Depends: libxml2 (>= 2.6.32.dfsg-5maemo4+0m5+0cssu0) but 2.6.32.dfsg-5maemo4+0m5 is to be installed

My sources.list:
#deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/apps/ ./
#deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/mr0 ./
#deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle1.2/ovi/ ./
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ fremantle-1.3 free non-free
deb http://repository.maemo.org/community/ fremantle free non-free
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ fremantle free non-free
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel fremantle free non-free

A quick scan of the maemo.org packages interface seemed to suggest that the repositories indeed do not contain a version 2.60 of libcurl3....

I was having the exact same problem. As a side note I have the repos from nokia.com enabled in my sources.list (which throw warnings about expired keys on every update).

After realizing with apt-cache that the required versions were available I suspected it had to do with some priorities in APT or something. So I installed both packages in their correct versions manually with:

Code:

apt-get install libxml2=2.6.32.dfsg-5maemo4+0m5+0cssu0 libcurl3=7.26.0-1maemo1+0cssu1
And then
Code:

apt-get install mp-fremantle-community-pr
continued without problem.

Hope it helps.

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

Were there any speed related changes from version 4 to version 5? I'm asking because after upgrading to 5, the responsiveness and speed of my N900 increased greatly (4 was kind of laggy, but I'm not sure if this was related to the version or the various customizations of my N900).
In "one" word, I'm so much satisfied with the speed of version 5 that I'm even reluctant to move to 6 right now. ;)

Re: [Announce] CSSU stable release

All CSSU installs should make your device better, that it is that noticeable from cssu-S5 is nice to hear, cssu-S6 is considered to be an urgent upgrade as it touches security certs, if tinymail and modest give you an performance increase I cannot tell. it might affect background tasks and therefor you might notice a more responsive behavior.

Anyone still on PR1.3.1 it is now highly recommended that you install the latest CSSU Stable. There will be no Security fixes from Nokia any more.
This update disables two insecure security certs that are now considered dangerous.

You will have noticed your desktops/browsers have had updates this week to fix this. Why are you waiting on your lovely N900? :)

Already installed the #6.
Just a question:
After i installed the CSSU, when i connect to internet through my phone service provider (and i disconnect) i can't connect anymore through it as it gets to GSM mode to the phone setting. Do you think it's somehow related to CSSU packages?
It's a little annoying to get anytime to the phone settings and change it back to dual or 3G everytime as i have to wait 15-20secs to save the setting... :)

This shouldn't be directly related to CSSU. I could only think of some auto-disconnect apps that might cause this behaviour. All those apps are deprecated and alas are notorious to not uninstall cleanly, so usually a reflash is needed to remove them and restore system back to normal operation.

CSSU stable release

Decided to try installing CSSU Stable....but there are issues with using repositories...

I know per other thread that repos are being mirrored....

So, assuming I have mirrored repos working, will I still be able to install Stable per following the instructions or does the installer need to be updated to point to the new repos or ???

Hope someone can please advise...trying to avoid messing up my n900 if possible....

Thanks!

Mark

This is a bad idea there is a reason for these updates.
CSSU will be the way forward like it or not.

3. what CSSU version to chose? stable, testing? do I need thumb?

1. CSSU Stable is designed as PR1.4 as it were. There aren't may visual changes as stock. "Portrait mode" can mean multiple things but none of the rotation stuff is enabled as stock.

2. Not sure on this but I doubt it. KP should be KP50 or later and DO NOT USE CUSTOM VOLTAGE PROFILES.

3. From your requirements it has to be CSSU-Stable, thumb needs testing and testing forces UI mods and testing packages like camera-ui

Hope this helps.
