Chocolate is good too, but in this case I'd prefer vanilla ;) So, there won't be any issues flashing such a country version firmware to vanilla?

Seems the firmware installed on your N9 is DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR006

And you are trying to flash firmware DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR005

It is not possible to downagrade firmware version once installed.
How the phone know if you try to downgrade?

It look at the PR_00x at the end of the firmware name.

So you'll have to flash a firmware with at least DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR006 in the name and not below.

thanks bro, i was able to notice it just now, sorry for the late reply, im downloading 009 variant as of the moment and im gonna flash it later, hope it works :)

why restrict yourself by using 009 firmware...just use 006 firmware and you are good to go...that is unless 009 firmware is especially for your locale and you want that locality adaption...

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

well two things:

either your fw file is corrupted hence you need to re-download it

if not the most probable thing that is wrong here is have you enable logging on your device? can you tell me if you plug in your phone as mass storage to your pc does it get detected? It looks like since your mmc partition is not being able to be mounted your flash is failing...

thedead1440 2012-08-10 04:14

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

also can you do a flasher -i

and post the output here it'll give some further information...

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

ok you are on pr legacy 001 and using pr1.0 from the info posted...

have you ever enabled logging on your device?

also please re-download the fw files i think maybe cuz they are corrupted the issue is popping up...

Edit: you mentioned about the spanner logo did you enable rd mode on the n9 using cmd? if yes disable it please...

hasnarok 2012-08-10 11:14

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

thanks yeah i enabled rd mode and am i using pr1.0 on navifirm which firmware can i download

thedead1440 2012-08-10 11:17

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

ok i would advice to use the global firmware with no maps (you can download the maps later from your device), the product code is 059H2M6...make sure you download pr1.3 (40.2012.21.3)...

disable rd mode before flashing too...

thedead1440 2012-08-10 11:33

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

ok for 16gb firmware the product code is 059J1Z5 or 059H2C5 no difference in whatever you choose..the colours don't matter as the colours are just to help in setting up the wallpaper...

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

there are cases of carrier branded firmware not being able to be flashed to a higher pr legacy...

There are two components for allowing a successful flash; a same/higher PR LEGACY and the timestap of the firmware...

In your case it could be that althought the image you want to flash has a higher PR LEGACY it is a newer image meaning its timestap is later than that of the image you want to flash...

Hence, the higher pr legacy image you are trying to use can't be flashed on your device...

So,you mean that I need image with timestamp earlier than current firmware? How can I check that? I tried with its original firmware which, released earlier but I failed again..

Does anyone know of any flashing services? Or would any local NYC N9ers be willing to help me flash for a fee? I'm not tech saavy and don't want to end up bricking this thing....

nope no way to downgrade...

Well you can contact itsnotabigtruck on whether he can help with this matter...

my guess would be to use Sparsify or unlzo but its best to ask INABT on this matter...

You could always send me your phone and I'll flash it and send it back :)

A couple of people have already used this service...
