Nokia can only be successfull if they dump their wp strategy and return to symbian/maemo 5/meego strategy. As they have planned it before going to wp.

MeeGo for high end phone
Symbian for Mid Range and High end phones
Meltemi or S40 for mid and low end phones.

Except this there is no hope left for Nokia.

I disagree with you. They have to shed Symbian as soon as they can. Symbian is dead and only Taliban are buying it. The reason why they are losing money, IS precisely their reliance on Symbian and taking so long to transition to something more viable. Hence Lumia. They need to churn out more Lumias, and if smart, they should work on Meego or whatever as alternative, but I suspect that they dont have money for it.

Talibans are probably buying Lumia's as Taliban's are pretty less in number so as lumia sales.

Shedding symbian was their biggest mistake they have ever done. Symbian is still profitable and also sales of Symbian phones are far greater than lumia phones.

Check some reviews of Symbian Belle and Symbian Belle FP1 its very very smooth and also its now totally competitive with iOS and Android.

About Symbian:
If it's sales numbers are declining rapidly, but still being extremely profitable for years or months to come, why kill it off even before a replacement has been established that is at least a bit profitable?

This decision was either completely nuts, or part of an evil master-plan.

At this rate he is going to be the EVP of Microsoft's handset unit in about 12 months.

Of course, it could be argued that he already is.

Symbian is failing. Last I checked NOKIA started selling WP only few months ago. Get your facts straight.

From a stock perpective. Fire people and cut costs could give the stock value, but not for the employees or finnish people/country.
