btw care to expand on the pricing u mentioned above?

OK. I am from Poland and will operate in PLN when not annotated otherwise.

Starting price for SGS2 was 2300. I can get it now for 1750 (6 weeks after premiere in Poland). I expect in September it will be available for 1500 or even lower.

Starting price for N9 is expected ca. $600 for 16GB and $700 for 64GB version. In Poland it means - after duties and taxes - respectively 2400 and 2800.

Historically Nokia flagships costed 2500 for new model. Exception was N8 which costed 2000 but was sold in parallel with N900 (2500 starting price). In best case it would be 2000 for 16GB and 2500 for 64GB. So "only" 25% difference when comparing with cheaper model but this is really best case.

I still don't understand why don't they stick to N950 instead..
If N9 is targeted for non-geek and N900 is for geek
n950 is got everything for both worlds.

The specs are almost the same, and HW-wise i think it's better because of keyboard (and HDMI perhaps?).

N950's design's not too bad compared to n9.
E7's pretty thin even with keyboard.

I know it's incomplete and not intended for end user from what i've read, but why not make it ready instead?

+1
the SGX530 was introduced in 2005: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerVR#Series_5

I presume Nokia found a load of them gathering dust at the back of the warehouse, or were given them as remaindered stock that noone else wanted?

I am guessing the display is a pentile AMOLED one, not a true 854 x 480, so maybe Nokia didn't feel the need to fit a higher spec chip, especially given the somewhat lame CPU.

Yes, it's just a warmed-over n900 without the keyboard.

and why exactly are you guessing that? Perhaps because of pure speculatri.. ermm speculation?
The N900 does have a lesser GPU with nearly the same resolution...

Awsome ! This phone does look good, need to try before I buy though.

Good thing seems to me is that this is something that Nokia will support unlike Maemo n900.

Also, the newspaper website here in Australia claims that it is first and the last Meego based device from Nokia, if it is true then I doubt if Nokia will support it at all once the WP7 / WP8 comes out.... I am worried but I should wait till it is released before making a call.

Good things are that it has multitasking and far better UI compared to any other device (atleast looking at video).

From the specs the N9 ONLY has A-GPS. If I don't have a local SIM card (which means I can not talk to local towers) I don't know how A-GPS would work.

N900 doesn't have GPS. ONly A-GPS. N9 has both. A-GPS works with cell towers. GPS works standalone meaning it can connect to the satellites to get a lock.
