Itv player just gives a black screen.

yup... Iplayer very jittery -- was on 3g - unwatchable really.

ITV loads up the webpage, but not the actual movie part - not sure what player on the page they are using, but don't think it is flash?

Just installed mplayer + KMplayer and will be testing MV4 (Mpeg4) movies on it very soon (Each 1.2gb - so should be good quality if they play lol!)

If iplayer support is not added i will be very disappointed, as i bought this phone hoping that it will match the iplayer playback of the iphone, which is amazing

ive got to agree with you the whole point of this phone is its ability to be a computer and if it cant even play bbc iplayer thats no good especially when you can get the likes of sky sports on the iphone which is flawless

nothing, no emails, no phone calls, no money taken, no dispatch note, nada :)

as it's special next day delivery a tracking number would be useless, Royal mail doesn't work the same way as courier companies :( - they don't update systems till a day later, by which time you should have it :)

As said earlier, flash 10 should work :) - Maybe fire of an email to BBC to ask if they can help develop a downloader for the iplayer :) - you never know they might :)
As playing it locally will be fine hehe :)

The sky sports player partially downloads and plays it differently doesn't it?

Youtube works, so we know it's possible :) - just need other things to catch up with the n900 :)

Well it's supply and demand i suppose - we need to kick up support to get the bugger companies to listen :)

If the tv suppliers have api's then it would be really easy (You-tube'ish).... BBC is one step closer as they already have a downloader - the iphone wouldnt cope with the files sizes, but the n900 would - so should be alot easier :)
Sky... who knows if they would :) - i have a sky account, but have never tried their online service.

About a month ago, i tried every possible way to contact bbc iplayer peepz, and let them know that they should really consider an iplayer app for the n900.

Had no reply or anything.

Stuck for idea's.

Anyone know where the iplayer head office is, maybe one of use who live nearby should pop in to have a chat.

I know 3 people who work for the BBC, doesn't mean much - but 2 are producers, and like new ideas :) - will see if they can worm our opinions in :)

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

yeah ive sky plus but no multi room so atleast you could try the sky player for free,

Yeah i think sky would have to produce a downloadable app like iphone

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

i suppose what we are forgetting is the phones just out and iphone is streets ahead on the app front so in time im sure all will be fine

Ive heard so much ******** about how the n900 won't be capable of bbc iplayer its sick.

Was wondering the iphone doesnt actually have an n900 application, its like a mobile version of the webpage, is it not possible to just give n900 acess to that webpage.

Ha i cant really see MS wanting to help support something thats
a) open source
and b) not windows based.

Although having said that they do release products for osx so
i guess it could be a maybe. hmmmmmm

I meant, the iphone access's a mobile version of the iplayer on the web, through the web browser. Whilst other phones such as n97 have applications which operate that function.

Since the iphones support is through a webpage, is it not possible to enable the n900 to access that specific webpage, so we can stream the iplayer?

Yes possibly :) - if it doesnt use any software that needs to be installed :) - pretty sure it's an app not a webpage tho?

Well, scuppered by the DRM - which the help pages said it didn;t have.

Just sorting out that issue and will try again :)

Footballdt23 2009-12-07 22:12

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

im sure its probably encrypted in some way to recognise the iphone what we need then is an app that masks the n900 to be recognised as an iphone but that is when it gets complicated
