Well I just took a picture, made it the same size as thos 4 combined.

Anyhow. In photoshop. CTRL+n sett pixel size 332x146 and scale your picture down to fit the 332x146 box. and then copy paste.
Or you can do it easy by cutting up a image, ->blending opt. -> stroke->change color.

Oooor I can do it for you, aslong as you provide the picture you want.

Hope that helps.

Certainly does. I'll have a play around first to see if i can get the desktop how i want it with my icons etc, if so i'll ask you to do photo. That way i won't be wasting your time if i don't use the background

Heh, Im better off "wasting" my time helping you. Im just sitting here fiddeling with the phone anyways.

But if you give me a photo. I can just make 4 images in frames and no background. So you can use it on whatever background you want.

I'll be more than happy to help, still got an hour before I have to sleep. :)

Ok. I have been doing a bit of work this afternoon on getting an Htc look, out of curiosity, to see how close I could get it. I'm no designer/artist though. Most of what you see on this screen is working. The part that isn't working is the new portrait taskbar. The "Vodafone Uk" is a qbw but doesn't actually do anything (just for the look) and the battery doesn't show correct charge (but doubles as the tasklaunch icon, so it does have some use). The time in the taskbar does work though. The weather widget fully works (but haven't done flipclock yet) and finally, the sense dock at the bottom also fully works (in a fashion). The globe launches the web browser via dbus, the phone icon obviously launches the phone app and the the magnifying glass is search (dbus call to filemanager - Does anyone know how to call filebox so that the full system can be searched?). Just a little project I did today.
EDIT: It's obviously not all accurate, but I quite like it.

I can see why you were after the phone application launcher commands now. That phone QBW and icon is really well done.

Once i've put it on my phone i'll upload screenshots, won't be for a few days though as i'll be flying back to the UK all day tomorrow

Futtawah, how do you get the image on? Do you put it on the blank one on the computer then transfer it across as a new wallpaper?

First I open my .psd in photoshop. Then ctrl+n and make a 332x146px empty box. Drag the photo i want to use onto the 332x146 box. scale it to fit the box. Then I copy a small and a big part of the 4 images, move it over to the 332x146 image. To use it as a template and just copy a piece in the exact same size and move it over to the backgound and make it fit inside the border.

Hah, I have no idea if you'll understand that, I suck at explaining.
Maybe ill post a video tomorrow to show how to :)
Have to go to bed now, work in 6 hours :|

EDIT: MEh, think I misunderstood you. Yes, just transfer it over as a new wallpaper :)

Tony

I *think* we do it similar. I open the original background, your one, in Paint, ctrl+a, ctrl+c, then paste in photoshop. Then i paste one of the segments you made into PS, remove the background and move it over the existing photo. Repeat for the rest.

@futtawuh: those abstract elements on your screenshots,
grey squares, lines ... do they belong to the initial base wallpaper
or is it possible to get the psd file with those elements as separate
layers so that i can modify them for my own purposes? by the way
there is a slight difference in the height of the upper line in
wallpaper 4 and 5.

Here are my screenshots. The second one is the main screen. So what do you think?

I would like to have a thin light blue (like the theme) line around the icons. Like the icons of the matrix theme among others have. Does anyone know how to do that?

Re: Show off your Maemo 5 screenshots

Maybe I'm crazy, but I had to test out, how far one could go to resemble hildon-desktop@xfce4.8 ;) I'm happy with the results, but this is still work in progress...

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/7548/90266076.jpg
http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/1814/21782270.jpg

The menu is done with slingshot, both panels are xfce4-panels, nothing else. Compiz is doing the maemo-like taskswitcher-thingy in the top-left corner (not shown here). Clock plugin is cairo-clock,weather is a screenlet (clear weather). Compiz hides the panels when maximizing apps, for the ultimate maemo feeling ;)
It feels at least a bit like using a grown-up hildon-desktop on my notebook :D
Now I'm working to get the maemo system sounds running with Xfce and get en par with the compiz effects...

That's the look I'm messing around with.. The great thing about Maemo is you can make look like anything you fancy.

I just feel that Nokia really didn't understand what had with Maemo! Plus I don't think they realised How popular it is to change the look of the homescreens and widgets! Not just on Nokia products..

@ Rich - as promised mate, here are the resized images - I droppped the pixels from 208 x 208 to 150 x 150. If these are still not the right size let me know and I'll resize again.

Also if you want anything different done with them (extrudes, different finish, different colour) drop a post back with a brief and I'll get it done too :D

Thanks Switch, much appreciated. Just one thing, how do i download them, as they're uploaded as one image?

Switch_ 2011-03-28 08:00

Re: Show off your Maemo 5 screenshots

No mate, they are all uploaded as single images... Assuming you are in Windoze - Right click on each individual image and go "Save Picture As" - they are all already named correctly so it's simply replacing them in your beecon image directory on the device and rejigging the pixel size of the image within the beecon settings.

If you're not in Windoze then not got a clue but they are separate images - I can upload as a zip if that helps?
