Re: Own a new N900 released today in Hong Kong? Look here
I'm going laugh if people flash their device to the HK variant and find their FM transmitter is disabled. Then they'll come here and complain about it.
(granted you can use [I believe] QWERTY12's hack to bring it back. But you could also just wait for Nokia to release the PR 1.2. images. |

we will be flooded with new threads like: "I CANT UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!" once PR1.2 comes out...
=_= *sigh* |

Lmao @ pr1.3

Re: Own a new N900 released today in Hong Kong? Look here
OP you tried a good idea, but unfortunately this thread is now rapidly turning into a farce like every other pr1.2 thread.
All that's missing now is Chuck Norris. Have we confirmed, for certain, that the n900 is available for general sale in HK? Seems to be some confusion over the dates, with today and the 1/5 mentioned. |

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris
Hi guys. This is my first look at this thread. (Please don't stone me.) And needless to say, I only read a few pages worth to see what it was about. It was what I expected it to be. That is why I had ignored it for so long. But, today I felt a bit adventurous. Any way, just to show you that some of us hard core N900 users are not necessarily itching to get the so called Pr 1.2 update. Sure, I will probably be glad when it comes, but I am already enjoying my N900 thoroughly.
@lsolano EasyDebian is, no pun intended, very easy to use. You just have to install it from the app manager, click on the "Deb Img Install" shortcut, and wait for the image to get downloaded and installed. No need to be a supper geek or anything. I wrote a little article about it here: http://temporaryland.wordpress.com/2...p-on-the-n900/ Note: Some of the tips toward the end of the article are no longer needed. |
Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris
Once you've installed EasyDeb successfully, you'll even get a OpenOffice icon in your Maemo menu, so you don't even have to start up EasyDeb and then navigate to OpenOffice in it's menu.

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris
PR1.2 does bring one great thing...video calling (not sure whether it supports 3G calls or not)
Personally that's something I miss and bought the N900 for, so PR1.2 isn't just a minor release for me. However I currently have a non-working N900 thanks to Nokia removing my USB port, corrupting my firmware and sending it back to me with a note saying "evidence of user damage" So... I'm not really too bothered when PR1.2 comes out, I'm in this thread for the lols. |
Re: Own a new N900 released today in Hong Kong? Look here
Is the HK version fixed to be in Cantonese or can it also do English?
May be an obvious question, but is the HK N900 physically identical to the rest of the world version? And why the delay in the HK release do we think? Are we now expecting a massive influx of professional chinese coders on to TMO? Here's to hoping! Answers on a postcard to the usual address. |
Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris
why we are in off topic now???
|
Re: Own a new N900 released today in Hong Kong? Look here
I don't know what is wrong with the current PR1.1 that people are so anxious to upgrade to PR1.2 I mean its only little more polished not like a new hardware upgrade, or isit ??

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris
Laregely because of references to the beardy tw@.
|
Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris
Also because no good can come of this thread, if anyone finds out any news, or if PR1.2 comes out, about 10 threads will spring up within a couple of minutes.

Re: Own a new N900 released today in Hong Kong? Look here
Video calling, bug fixes etc

But I, like you, also suspect it's probably not a hardware upgrade as it's very hard to send and install a new 5" screen or a digital compass into the motherboard OTA. It's a terrible strain on network bandwidth. Edit: I feel sorry for all the Hong Kong-ians who get their n900s and log in to see a thread inviting them to "look here", mouths open with glee and excitement, only to find a thread filled with photoshops and Chuck Norris jokes. What will they think of us? :P |

Hey, who changed my thread title?? This forum is a Chuck Norris joke! You seem to be able to do what ever you want :D

Read Jaffa's comments about PR 1.2 on this page. It says HK device is not shipped with PR 1.2

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris
I think that changing the name of a thread in this particular way is misleading and shouldn't be allowed.
But it's consistent with this site's treatment of polls. I once answered a poll and found that the content of the poll had been changed so much that I was on the opposite side of the question that I voted for. This would be useful for some purposes; you could have a poll about loving the N900 and change it to iPad Fan Club. But I don't think it should be allowed. |
Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris
Hey, why not change this forum to http://talk.chucknorris.org
and just skip nokia, PR 1.2 and hong kong... |
Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and Chuck Norris
Ahá! it took just dozens of pages to find out why this thread became chuck-norris-related!
