Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

Ok I failed with this install yesterday and had to reflash. But I am here to give it another go.

Question: Do I have to use Linux to do anything now or can it all be done on the device?

Question 2: Do I have to format a brand new sd card first before formatting it with the install instructions?

I somehow managed to install android on my device instead of the sd card and ran out of rootfs.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

you can use the device itself and formating not really needd - hop into the irc room if you wish and ill help out

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

hi all

I encountered an issue when I was booting Nitdroid:

Buffer I/O error at mmcblk0p2
Lost page write I/O error at mmcblk0p2

Nitdroid did not manage to boot and reset itself to multi boot menu. Anyone know what's the issue?

Hi Guys,
I've noticed that Bootmenu is now showing in app manager. Could someone tell me the xterm command for uninstalling it?
Also could someone tell me the xterm command for formating the sd card in my phone?

Thanks everyone

Is the build in the last video using 2.6.35 kernel?

dj_steve 2010-07-16 16:38

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

nope its still on 2.6.28 (its using a prerelease kernel) the kernel we are using will become the last of the .28 kernels though after that it'll be 33/35

@steve will we still be using multiboot to boot into NITdroid with the forthcomming kernels?

Just asking cause i'd like to be able to also boot NITubuntu when MuhammadAG gets the touchscreen fully functional.

dj_steve 2010-07-16 16:44

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

yep multiboot will be the new bootmenu due to its internal flashign ability (only way we will be able to use 33/35 kernels without killing maemo

@Jay-C

It would be *really* nice if you packaged multiboot and uploaded it on extras-devel.

I am working on this!

multiboot is already deb-packaged, but there are a few issues with dependencies. Will appear as soon as these issues are sorted out.

Cheers.

For everyone waiting on having 3G data, i might have a hack that will make it work. Testing tonight or tomorrow when i get time. If it works, its still too big of a hack for general NITdroid releases, another way still has to be found but ill release instructions for what i did if it does work.

edit: calls wont work though

Do you know what termal code I need to run to uninstal it, cause it's not in app manager to un install?

Thanks Chris

Jay-c would you add also jebbas kernel to multiboot.
It is useful when booting linux (armel...ect.) and maybe meego kernel?
lin to jebbas kernel page:
http://wiki.maemo.org/User:Jebba/Kernel

The install instructions are already on Jebba's kernel page.
Only thing left is the make a boot item for multiboot.

There are examples in /etc/multiboot.d/examples/
Most of the options are system specific, so providing a ready made options really does not work.

Hope this helps.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

Running NITDroid when the battery completely zapped and now it boots up then shuts itself down after a few seconds. How can I completely remove the install so that I can start afresh?

I have retried going through the install instructions again but still have the same problem. Is there something lurking that needs to be removed before a fresh install?

try this: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...5&postcount=43
When I first installed nitdroid I had the same problem, i booted it up and it automaticly started the shut down procedure.
after deleting that file I didn't have that problem anymore.
Only downside is that battery power isn't recognised.

Is there a relationship between wifi toggling and whether or not the battery icon displays that it is being charged?

dj_steve 2010-07-18 00:24

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

no.. battery should be reported regardless (charging doesn display immediatly though

Multiboot doesn't appear to work on my device now... Every time I boot it loads Maemo immediately.

You could try rebooting(though I've never heard of that problem before).
