i used "118149818 NITDroid-N900-0.0.5-3-BIG.tbz2" package.
Is that all right or I shoul use the "80Mb NITDroid-N900-0.0.5-FroYo.tbz2"

dj_steve 2010-07-18 10:40

I have been away for a while so I'm not up to date on what has changed. I've also never installed Nitdroid.

If I follow the instructions at the following adress, is that all I need to do?

http://wiki.nitdroid.com/index.php?title=N900-install

steve,
can you compile the dual boot kernel with a nice gui instead of the post boot script grub? is it possible to make it similar to Macintosh dualboot screen?

dj_steve 2010-07-18 12:42

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

whats point in gui for a bootloader. pointless exercise imho

Ehy Dj... any news? :)

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

giu boot loader is nicer to look at. The post boot message makes the N900 look like it going to break lol. i don't mind it on the computer or my ps3 though but those are handy when i'm trying to find out what drivers and processes are running and failed during boot time. For N900, it a little pointless since most users just want to dual boot. They don't care much about those preboot messages.

but if it's not possible to somewhat hide the text and replace it with an animation or still image then it won't be can't do much. lol.

Daft question, but is there anyway of being able to pause the boot process so you can read what the messages say :)

just in case of any errors loading things in

As I recall, you can't pause it, but would also be helpful, is if there was a way to output that text to a text file. This would allow you to then post sections of the output here for people to read....

I installed Nitdroid for the first time today. It feels very slow, is that the way it runs at the moment or have I maybe done something wrong?

In the current build, Android is very slow... but in the next maybe.. :D

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

@ All Devs, good work so far and thank you! It looks good even though it's a bit slow!

Is there a way to get portrait mode for the home screen? I see it rotates in the menu but when the menu is closed it goes back to landscape.

This question has probably already been asked but I'll ask anyway, has development reached the point where it should detect the mobile operator? In my case it shows the bars with an x and scanning for mobile operator gives an error.

I used a 1GB card when my brand new 4GB SanDisk failed and it has been working fine. Am lovin' NITDroid. Can't wait for the next update, hopefully with GPS and 3G working.

When yes how I can do this ? to merge the sd card to a part android / Ubuntu and other part for "just files " ?! ;)

clovis86 2010-07-18 21:45

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

maybe resize the actual partition used for maemo and create a brand new one for nitdroid install !
using something like gparted

EDIT : ok sorry 10 000 000 times didn't even read the how to before asking ... now everything is ok
cheers ^^ :o

yep check your rootfs usage for start. Second you would be the 4th or 5th person now to have same issue with a 4gb sandisk card... Suspect theirs a issue their as its far to many to be pure coincidence imo.

Will the warranty of my N900 lost if i install Nitdroid?

clovis86 2010-07-19 10:22

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

definitely not
on the worst case you fflash using diablo and then emmc but not any problem in any case regarding the warranty

So, http://www.pocketables.net/2008/07/android-install.html

this android install works yet to n810?

They install the last version of android? (1.6)

Why not work more on the version to n810?

GPS works on n810 version?

The Droid App Store works?

N810 isn't top priority, but I saw hints that improvements for N810 Android might appear soon.
