Love that jolla gives some love to browser. As a heavy browserer I find jollas browser rediculas slow. Emerasseing :D the question is if jolla browser ever can complete With apple and android browser...is IT skill, Manpower, hw, Money, time or a mix of IT all to speed IT up. Is it fair to expect a Top notch browser from jolla or should we Excpect slower experiance? Maybe i have to high expectations for released to public  I think jPhone ll browser will kick some serious ***. But will it be fast...doubtful

I think, that is not good idea.. it can eat battery very fast and ram. But if not, then i like it too :)

Sailfish 1.1.39 testing...

I love it!. had to reset my phone, but OS is much smoother and Browser running very smooth! Some small things here and there, but it was good that we waited! It's very clear, Jolla has worked very hard to make this happend.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Not sure if it's gonna eat battery on SailfishOS, but never had a problem of battery eating on webOS with YouTube playing in a background card (i.e. tab). And since battery usage on SailfishOS is already pretty good (at least in my experience), I think the same'll apply.

Hi,
Sorry in advance if this has already been answer somewhere, I'm new to Jolla.

I wonder if there is a "good" setup to run multiple Google calendars ? Like a lot of people, the native calendar app doesn't sync shared calendars and I've a lot of issues with CalDav.

So any info about how to live with these limitations by using a special setup would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Maybe try CalenGoo? Yes it's Android and paid but I assume that's your best option.

And on webOS. Yes, I agree that that's the better implementation but the tab thing like in the new design looks like a good alternative to me. At least for now.

Yes and yes. It was hard to find a working calendar app but finally found CalenGoo.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Or you can try Sunrise Calendar. Tried it, but it doesn't sync to Exchange yet so I'll stick to the native calender app for now. But it looked very good and it's very featureful.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

I am thinking about getting a Jolla - which would be mostly used as business phone (so no facebook, whatsap or other gibberish)

But I still have some unanswered questions, where you can maybe help me out:

1.Is it possible to sync Calenders/Contacts via Caldav or similar - using owncloud and thunderbird?
2. Is it possible to load whole countrys as maps on the phone (for just browsing the area and for navigation)?? I mean without having to connect to a server etc? Even my old 5800 xpess music had that possibility - and I still don't get why so few phones can do that.
3.when ordering the Jolla - can you only choose the white other half as I would prefer black?
4.Android compability - i would try for Apps for ERP and CRM Systems - how well are android apps working? Most of them? or only a few.
5.Sailfish app store - is it possible to have a look what is available via browser??

Any hint would be great.

Should work fine with Update 8 or Update 9 (beta)

This is not possible with the native maps apps (needs permission from Nokia I guess). The Nokia Here Beta for Android works fine on Jolla and has offline navigation. However you need to create an account to download the map data.

Yeah seems like they did not change that. You need to pay extra for the black TOH.

Most of the times the Android apps work great. However I never tested an ERP or CRM app though. If there is a free app that I could test just point me to it.

Nope thats not possible.
The alternative openrepos repo is viewable online however.

Is there something to do when the Android apps lose internet connection or is a reboot the only thing that will solve the problem?

try Schturman's android restart 'app' (or 'alien dalvik restart'? not sure) from open repos, in theory restarts the whole acl, so could help (definitely quicker than rebooting)

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

For me it helps to just refresh the app (if there's a refresh button or swipe down to refresh the content of the app) or just close the app and launch it again. I never ever had to reboot the phone to get internet connection back in an Android app.

Ok - Is there also the possibility to use openstreetmap for downloading maps for offline use (+ maybe for navigation)? This would be my no.1 solution (but otheres are fine to)

ERP would be here:

The CRM I would probably use I only found in the play store:

Thanks again

What you can do when IP connection gets stuck (as it still sometimes does, only rarer now in Uitukka)

Just restart networking with "systemctl restart connman.service"

osmAnd should be your answer. It is an android application but works fine and has offline navigation aswell.

Downloaded and installed fine. Also running is no problem though I did not test it connecting with a server as I don't have one.

osmAnd is indeed an alternative if you want offline maps. For online maps, Here Maps by Jolla works fine and as an alternative, I use Poor Maps from Warehouse as that utilizes OpenStreetMap (which I'm a heavy contributor to for my city!)

Wifi connection on my Jolla is just flawless.

I live in a wifi-crowded area but my home AP does not use the default channel (apparently most routers use either 1 or 11).

Has anyone managed to install the full version of Poweramp on their Jolla? I'm not able to unlock it even though the purchase has been completed. It says I have no Google or email account registered on the device when I try to unlock. I've contacted the devs but I thought someone here has experienced the same issue.

Quite a few of my Android apps latest versions requires some google services which forced me to use older versions to run them in Sailfish. Seems like installing Google play store solved that "issue" for me.

You are lucky on this. I have tried two different routers and different channels, but my Jollas WiFi connection is total crap! Actually the only reasonable complain I have about the phone when considering its background.

I actually basically never use my the WiFi, because it really is that bad. All other devices are happily surfing the wep, but Jolla is complaining about "connection problem" or just constantly reconnecting. Also, if I sometimes share the network connection wirelessly from my Jolla, the battery consumption goes through the roof even after I turn the sharing of. I always have to reboot the phone to get the consumption back to normal.

My Jolla almost made it through the warrant period, but I actually have to sent my phone in later today. I have some yellouish spot in my screens left side. Everything in the screen is otherwise working normally. Hopefully it is something that the warranty will take care of.

BTW. now that I am back to using my N9, I am again amazed by its totally superior user experience. Never with any phone still today have I experienced something so perfect for me. Hope Jolla will one day be as good.

My screen is developing exactly the same problem. Only really visible currently when I use something with a light/white background - such as the stock browser.

Yep, spot on the same problem! I will take my phone to service today. Anyone knows where they fix the phones and how long service time should I be expecting?

I sent mine on Monday to Optima Services and got it back on Friday. They replaced the display and SIM Card holder.

Don't use wifi tethering but go USB:
Enable developer mode, open terminal and :

# pkcon install usb-moded-connection-sharing-android-config

If there is no extra option labeled internet sharing in the menu after plugging in a USB cable reboot. And there you go magic sharing of your phones internet to your laptop. (usb rndis with ip forwarding, dhcp server on the phone gives all info needed to your laptop)

I have been waiting for a long time for Insmat cases to be once again available in Jolla shop.

However, now I found even better solution - 19,95 EUR and free shipping in the EU: https://www.phonecaseseurope.com/pro...mat-flip-case/

Hello
This is Tero from Phonecaseseurope.com.
Noticed some hits on server logs from here and decided to join the discussion.
We are happy to sell Jolla cases and we have had lots of customers ordering them throughout EU.
All products on our store are held in stock.
At the moment we are shipping only to European Union countries, that may change in future.
If there is anything you want to know. Just ask.

Nice to see you taking an active interest Tero.

I would love to see a rugged/waterproof case for my Jolla. At the moment, I'm shoving mine in a ziploc bag if I'm out cycling with it.

Something like http://www.amazon.co.uk/Swees®-Water...N%3DB00EU51YO2

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Some ranting maybe:

It's been over 4 months since an update, and no I don't want to update to a non stable opt-in beta version. I'm getting really tired of the web browser with it's bug with clicking links, you can never hit the right spot unless you zoom super close where it's not possible to miss. And I'm not enjoying having a piece of paper holding my battery and still getting reboots sometimes, albeit much less than before.

I was going to write a long post saying stuff about how I loved the N9 and how Jolla hasn't improved much upon it or is missing something the N9 had, but you've all heard the same thing multiple times already. Today I had a chance to borrow a Lumia 520 for about a month and I'm now starting to use it. I hope to god Jolla will have the final update ready by christmas.

I opted in and enjoy the update some nice improvements but there are a few issues with memory.

If you have the skills and can make the time, coders are needed for new apps and open source parts of the OS.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

Finally my Jolla will be on its way in the next days:
Still I have some questions - mostly about addiotional/spare parts:

Case:
Beside the Insmat Flip Case - are there any others you would recommend.
Does anyone have a lastucase? How is the quality of that (since it is leather glued? to wood - i am not sure about the comparison to a "one pieace" leather case).

Display protection:
A friend of mine has a bullet-prof glas display protection for his Samsung (http://www.stilgut.de/produkte/panzerglasfolie/) which is simpley great- is there something like that for Jolla.
Or what would you recommmend as protection?

Waterproof:
How are your experiences with Jolla and that (had a bad experience once with a nokia in a jeans side pocket on a rainy day).
Would be great to have a "make waterproof" paint (like nano coating) on the jolla inside as a addon possibility anyway - but that may be another discussion.

Software:
Is there something like the Nokia Suite - like for syncing - or how is this managed? Hope you know what i mean.

Is Ipsec supported? - i found a discussion on together jolla - but it was left open.

Finally: I read the tablet is Sailfish 2.0 - are there plans to update the phone to this version to??

Looking forward to get a Jolla.
