Re: Adobe Flash Player 10: When will the update arrive? Is it coming at all?

Is there a technical reason why 10.1 content cannot be made backward compatible to 9.x player? (Even on somewhat degraded presentation)

It completely degrades the the value of an "Adobe Flash compatible device" when there is a complete block for future contents when your device is not on the latest Flash version..

At the very least they gotta incorporate the flash version to the labeling, because the version turns out to be a very critical variable in this equation.

Of course I try to appreciate N900 for what it is now but this is the first time (for me atleast) in the history of this phone that it is taking steps backwards.

As ysss said, it is supposed to be fully supported Adobe Flash device.

It's not out yet. And Flash Player 10.1 just came out June 17th.

But at least Android users - on some, not all phones - know if they are or are not getting an update for the most part.

Motorola is the only Android using company that I has said anything about Froyo, from my limited knowledge. And they said they will get it to the Droid but they don't know when.

I don't think HTC has made any announcement. Some HTC devices haven't even received 2.1 yet.

Sure, they'll end up with Froyo sometime but when? it is sad that some people come on here and are all, "woe is me. How could you betray me, Nokia? I'm jumping ship"

If you jump ship now, what other device will you jump to? As I type, only the Nexus One has Froyo. The EVO 4G doesn't, the Dell Streak doesn't.

At the moment, the n900 has the latest version of full Flash of any Nokia device and any other mobile device that isn't the Nexus One.

They wait for Froyo, we wait for Flash 10.1. Why move to another platform to wait again. Move when you are sure the n900 isn't getting Flash 10.1. Move when Froyo is on most Android phones

..and just to underline how big Adobe's erroneous plan/execution of this 'update' is, let's review those sites that stop working when they upgrade the server side components to 10.1:

- The actual content do not technically change (video codec, resolution, etc)
- The actual client/player are also still the same

Same media content, same playback device, blocked by Adobe in the middle.

Personally I will find it rediculess if the N900 won't get flash 10.1.
It's an Internet tablet with one rather important advantage above all other smartphones which is it can browse the internet like a PC.

Just the thought that my friend with his Android smartphone can view more sites then I can with my internet tablet, makes me really sad.

Ah, time to bring up the crack analogy again.

Pass the pipe along, Nokia...

Adobe's got so many vendors in its pocket that we can't get our fix without our dealer picking up the latest street enhancement.

Whats the point of having a phone like the n900 if you can't watch porn on it? :(

Has anyone pointed out this issue to Nokia?

Why did Android have to get it first?
