How is the percentage of OS on the Asian market. What's oses are available. What's the expectation of tizen? Any talk about that os or other new ones.

How likely is that Jolla will attract 100000 buyers?

I hope Xiaomi build the Jolla phone, the M2 is such an impressive device.

If Jolla got something like this for Sailfish, I'd be absolutely thrilled.

Canonical is NOT an opensource company anymore so thats why I totally losts intrests in ubuntu!

All the examples you listed are open source.

Whether they "play ball" like good citizens with the rest of the FLOSS community is up for debate, but I don't see any reason of accusing them of not being open source.

For sure I also have many doubts about the path they've chosen. But that's another topic.

Asia is almost completely owned by Android by now, some sources say China has above 90% Android.

My guess would be that Jolla doesn't have much chance, every passing month it's getting later. They could be too late like these guys - make sure you check out their demo, it was way cooler than Sailfish and still died...

Any first generation OS is going to have an uphill battle on its hands, Sailfish included. Can it be done? Hmmmmm . . .

The Asian markets' Android focus may not be a problem, if Sailfish can straight up run ALL Android apps as Jolla claims. Then, those customers would not lose any investments they've made in Android apps by switching.

The real problem is longevity risk. If you buy into a smaller company today, like BB or Jolla, you face the risk that they will not be in a position to adequately support your device as long as you want it supported--kind of like Nokia's support of the N9 or N900.

Listen, the Emblaze Mobile UI is alllll that. I loved it, too, and hope it finds a way to market. They describe a cautionary tale. They didn't attempt market entry. I'm glad Jolla is at least trying, but Sailfish can't get here soon enough.

Just a thought. If it's a BIG partner, maybe it's HTC, since they're from China. :)

why not. LG has WebOs, Samsung has tizen. Sony and HTC are hugh, but might be to big for Jolla. When they move in for a new OS. I would assume they buying the whole company to take control, especially when we are talking the mini sized jolla set up.

I think Sony are expanding and aggressively, so if BIG means world wide big I hope its SOny, but when jolla say BIG it could be a small fish and still be big to jolla.

There are plenty better alternatives, that should get attenttion by media, on both on desktop and mobile, in latter case sailfishos will be better thats for damn sure..

The minute that Ubuntu went to Unity, I cut all ties with them.

I should've read up on HTC before posting, dang.. I could've sworn i read that they were from China... Thanks for clarifying!

And dave, i do think Sony could license sailfish as their alternative os, I mean, why not? Sony loves sleekness, and sailfish sure is sleek. :)
