Re: [How To] Have up to 9 home screens on N900 !
mhm...
now it works... o.O i did following: 1. enabled 9 desktops 2. chose a picture for every desktop 3. enabled 5 desktops (at step 2... maybe (don't know if it's working) just set the bg-images for the desktops you want to use in step 3...) :D |
Re: [How To] Have up to 9 home screens on N900 !
My guess is that the problem is related to settings of cached images (in directory /home/user/.backgrounds), that were made before installing hildon-home that supports 9 desktops. Maybe anyone who has problems should remove all files in this directory (including cache.info file) and reboot to make hildon-home recreate the cache.

how would you get from bottom-left to top-right or the other diagonal with one swipe? it doesn't matter if they are in a row or 2x2... you always only can access two other desktops directly from the one you are on at the moment.... one of the four desktops is always two swipes away *G* :P EDIT: then it would be more logical to make the screen-edges shortcuts for the four desktops. desktop 1 <- swipe to the left desktop 2 <- swipe to the right desktop 3 <- swipe to the top desktop 4 <- swipe to the bottom ;) |
Re: [How To] Have up to 9 home screens on N900 !
I have problem too...
I uninstall the version 1.12 and install 1.13 Now I see the screen no' 5, but with black screen... I run this command: gconftool -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/views/5/bg-image -t string /home/user/MyDocs/.images/abstract1_04.jpg nothing.... I tried add picture directly from desktop... nothing... It only change the bg image on screen no' 1, but screen no' 5, is still black. reboot -> nothing I install the new hildon-home, and now I can not see the option for adding the background images from desktop, I see black screen with 2 button MORE and DONE http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8...0031705302.png I returned to the original hildon-home but I still cannot see nothing on screen no' 5... Please help... :( [EDIT] hmmm... I uninstall 1.13 -> reboot -> tried to reinstall, but now it's again 1.12 and now it's work on the screen no'5, but it is the same image from screen no'1... [EDIT2] I tried to install the hildon-home again, and again if I want to change the screen no'5 I see black screen with 2 button MORE and DONE.... I returned to the original hildon-home... |

Re: [How To] Have up to 9 home screens on N900 !
thnx matan. that thing really explains what the steps are. but I would wait untill someone develops an app for all that procedure, in which the app asks for the number of desktops required, their positions (horizontally or vertically or diagonally), and the backgrounds to be used for each new screen.

Re: [How To] Have up to 9 home screens on N900 !
Ok, now it's work, but after very very strange tricks....
1) I again install hildon-desktop v.1.13 (without uninstalling of 1.12) -> now I see the screen no'5, but he is black... -> reboot -> nothing... -> tried to delete the cache from background folder -> nothing.... 2) I again install the new hildon-home -> I can't change the bg images from desktop (black screen with 2 button MORE and DONE) -> and can't from command line... -> screen no'5 is black... 3) I decided to uninstall hildon-desktop from app. manager -> reboot -> and I still can see the 5 screens !!! why I don't know.... And now it's work :-) I can change the bg image on the screens by command line and can not from the desktop (black screen with 2 button MORE and DONE).... P.S. after uninstalling hildon-desktop, I looked in to the folder: /usr/bin/ and I still can see the 2 files: hildon-desktop.launch and hildon-desktop.launch1. Only if I delete the hildon-desktop.launch and change the launch1 to launch on the other file, only after this action my screens jump from 5 to the 4 screens. Why it's not changed after uninstalling modified hildon-desktop ? It's happened too in the past... |
