Re: [ANNOUNCE] Buddy - a budget and expense manager for maemo.
I am using PR 1.2
Refreshed the repos and it worked now. I would prefer if the limitation is removed. Thanks Quote:

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Buddy - a budget and expense manager for maemo.
I lost all my budgets and expenses for some kind of unknown reason. There is nothing showing up in any view and for any time filter.
This was before I updated to PR1.2 so it cannot be associated with the update. Is this bug known? |

There is very little info for me to say anything. anybody else have this issue ? I can confirm I didn't. |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Buddy - a budget and expense manager for maemo.
PR1.2 has this fix.
Bug 7432 - /opt and /home/user not cleared after firmware reflash Status: RESOLVED - FIXED this fix can also remove your buddy db and settings on reflash. As a prevention measure I will move the db to /MyDocs instead of the /opt partition in the next update. Will ensure the update is seamless so your current db gets moved there automatically. Just to let you know that fix will apply to any application you installed. cheers |

- I had several reboots in this period - I visited other countries in this period - My phone died of low battery once. - I was in another country when I tried to use BUDDY again. - On the last successful start of BUDDY I added an expense - /opt/buddy/data is empty (don't know if it has been empty prior PR1.2) - other folders in /opt seem to be intact though Sorry, but I don't know if I want to use BUDDY until there is a solution to this bug. Is it possible that I accidently deleted all my data within BUDDY? |

As far as I know there is no such issue of data disappearing as of now. If you can reproduce this issue consistently send me a PM/mail with details. Its quite possible its a one off issue with something you might have done. |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Buddy - a budget and expense manager for maemo.
New version 0.2-3 uploaded to the repository.
Contains no functional changes. Minor cosmetic changes done to counter some changes that were done in Qt4.6 as part of PR1.2. A desktop version in the works , will post an update when its working and ready. |

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Buddy - a budget and expense manager for maemo.
the app has been kept very generic in its use.
some users may like to keep multiple budgets for different dates even under a specific category. For example I could allocate for my food budget £100 for Jan, Feb and Mar. £250 in apr, may, june since family comes over to stay with me. £150 from july until may next year since I decide to become obese :). Similarily you can have expenses also for multiple periods and multiple amounts per category. so basically you can have multiple rows of budgets/expenses displayed for each category, hence buddy provided the expenses or budgets to be shown per category in the Expense/Budget windows. You can choose them by way of the drop down. This was done to make it simple while editing/adding and not clutter the screen as you can see the limited screen estate on those screens. In case you want to see the amounts for each of your categories for a selected period, then you could go into the Reports-->Usage which shows you for each category the total budget , expense and the balance left after expenses. If you want to see the sum totals for all expenses/budgets irrespective of what category then goto Reports-->Totals Open to suggestions. hope that clarifies.... |
Re: [ANNOUNCE] Buddy - a budget and expense manager for maemo.
maybe a suggestion for a feature than..is it possible to apply a budget amount for a month..intead of applying it to each expense category..than you can check your expense total against the monthly budget..for example..on the budget page i want to set a budget for the month of May at 1000.00..than i can go ahead and add expense categories like food, taxi, fuel etc against that May monthly budget of a 1000.00.
hope that makes sense..or its simple enough to add as a feature...many thanks |
