But the greatest impediment to WP is the name Windows Phone itself. Nobody wants Windows on their phones as it is associated with a bloated, buggy, malware infested OS and a monopolistic Microsoft. Of course they are different but the name and automatic association rankles.

MS will lead Nokia to an early grave, no doubt about that.

Spot on, although the iPhone still doesn't have NFC or micro SD support (and its sales haven't been damaged because of it ;) ).

I think it was the Windows moniker that was the big killer. No one wants to be associated with it. Let's face it, Windows is not cool. I thought Microsoft would have realised that after the big success Xbox is. They should have created an all new name for it, because its clearly not a business phone (to leverage off the Windows desktop). No Skype yet?? What are they doing??

long live maemo, we love you, nokia is just cheater, N9 should be a monster and nice comeback if nokia give it newest hardware

i love my N900, its still the best one(for me)

You don't get it. Elop never intended for N9 to succeed, hence the stiff pricing.

Yes but iphone is in a class of its own with cult-like status among its fans. WP7 was wrong to copy iphone's negatives like no mass storage mode, tied to Zune for file transfer and no micro-SD card support while it doesn't have the iconic status of Apple. Incidentally a BBC report says researchers have found that Apple products excite the same area of the brain in Apple fans as religious images in the faithful.

good company is listening to their customer, good company is make their customer satisfied with their product and always give them the best one, why nokia never reach that point,

android developer says maemo is really powerfull OS, and nokia abandon this one just for WP?

i see no reason, i see no hope, nokia began sinking without a trace, i hope someday another company bring us back maemo with more elegant style,

Sorry, my opinion : Android is... boring, very boring, even running on a big tablet (Asus Transformer TF-101). Maemo 5 is a lot better, it deserved more hardware variants.

Sorry again for my opinion : Android is a joke. The media allows and praises an OS with so many missing features in 2012 : no real multitasking, no screenshot (before Android 4), no dependencies (oh, it is fine to have 4 Python's installed, which one independent and without common modules...), no privacy (you have to sell your soul to Google), etc.

Ok, Android is better than Windows Phone (well, at least), it is more open than iOS. That's all.

Tablets with Android/iOS are a waste of hardware.

Are you aware that the SoC is not the only/main component driving price?

Sorry you're wrong. In a press release, Steve said Nokia has the royalty of changing Windows Phone's looks and features...something no other OEM is allowed to do.

People still believe Nokia can change stuff on WP? Guys that was just a lie so Elop could justify choosing the failed OS of his ex employer. If you still have doubts check the Lumias only thing made in Finland on them is Angry birds.

I doubt it. If MS treats Nokia differently from other WP manufacturers they will stop making WP phones as the playing field is no longer level. Having only one manufacturer and limited choices for users does not tie in with MS's dream of world domination.
