I respectfully suggest there is no stock to ship yet and during the first week of November, a legion of brain-dead iPhone users will be directed to box the N900's up for shipping.

Why do I feel like these ads are portraying the N900 user as a loser? I don't see the positive spin of these ads.

Yeah that's the theme I get as well. The idea seems to be "Even if you're a complete ***** the N900 will save your ***".

That said I am a ***** in many ways and having a decent phone (GPS, calendar etc) has saved my *** many times :D

When has any device EVER been delayed simply because the pre-orders are greater than the expected stock level?

I am fairly sure nobody would ever bother delaying for that reason because there is no logic to delaying everyones devices just so that everyone gets it at the same time. For a start, that is the point of saying "in selected markets", so if it gets delayed more in one region than another you can say "we did warn you".

I think it was pretty obvious, even before the recent post confirming it, that the delay is for bug fixing. No company in their right mind would delay a product purely to let the warehouse fill with them, all the while losing money because nobody has paid for one yet.

I'm a bit confused about the official videos about the youtube playback.
There's only one video showing it playing smooth and in the other videos they start playing the videos, stopping them "Oh connection problems - doesn't load here correct and more" and not showing it

I'll wait for this device - better not failing at this otherwise I feel very sad cause if youtube and flash doesn't work smooth I just could get any other smartphone with a keyboard.

As annoying as it can be (I'm not a fan either), I think this is a good sign rather than a bad one. New people are coming in, getting interested, and talking about things. Now would be a good time to discuss ways to better integrate them into maemo.org, rather than giving them welcomes like that.

(Obviously, this is offtopic for this thread though)

If you get a dispatch notice and a tracking number then that's different. If you get one in your hands by all means post about it!

We're all interested but if you read back through the various threads you'll see various retailers have promised all sorts of things. The last think anyone wants is 5 new threads every day with what retailer X said that day.

i just called them in the uk and they get the phones on 30/10/2009 and the guy said if i orded i would have by monday special delivery.HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Good sales tactic, publish a delivery date earlier then everyone else, take the orders/cash, and then blame the manufacturer for a delay..

And they say they will ship a EU Version.
Is there really one EU Version? France has a special keyboard, Germany needs a special keyboard, Switzerland has an special keyboard, Czech needs, Austria needs...

Maybe it's a UK device? Sounds really wierd...

Nora from DDP wrote about an Euro1 version, indeed, when I asked for a localized one. So there's something like an European generic N900. (might be that with international keyboard plus european frequencies)

If you recall how the n97 was released, it was delay delayed delayed and then suddenly Apple announced their new iphone and amazing the n97 became available and it was a piece of crap.

With the average consumer (the ones that pay the bills for Nokia) having a choice of Driod, HD2, iphone 3GS, upcoming Xperia.. who knows, they might pull another n97

Nethertheless Nokia doesn't know anything about it...

German page says 25th November... other Nokia pages say just "Preorder" although they now advertise the Nokia X6 with Comes with music... so what happening?

I don't think they will release for France, UK and so on the EU Version now and let Germany sitting there and waiting for a version with a QWERTZ keyboard. And it doesn't needs 25 days to change the keyboard layout....

I can confirm i have just spoken to nokia uk and :DTODAY:D they have a UK SHIPPING DATE THAT DATE IS THE:D 9TH NOVEMBER :DPLEASE CALL THEM IF YOU DONT TRUST BUT THATS THE DATE FOR THE UK BOYZ N GIRLZ NJOI :D:D
