Do this:

apt-get remove --purge qtirreco
apt-get remove --purge lirc
cd /etc/lirc (to see if it is removed properly, This should be not exist)
cd /etc (lirc.conf should not be on the list)

remove MyDocs/qtirreco from File Browser


Reboot.

Enable Extra-Testing
--------------------------------
Install Qtirreco 3.0.1
Reboot

x-terminal: ps

you should see something like: lircd .... ... port ....
If the lircd is enabled and still no infrared signal on the camera then...

Repeat step 1 again and remove everything only this time delete the "MyDocs/qtirreco" first then open up the app again.

Then if you can't see the signal, try remove it completely.
And do it from scratch after reboot.

type: apt-get install qtirreco (with extra-testing enabled)
It should say fixing the path and stuff to lircd

Now go to the qtirreco app and download a remote and test it out.

Ok so i found a sky box remote that works, but cant get panasonic tv working, would love the xbox 360 remotes to work but they dont, when you create a new remote, you download from other remotes anyway? So how do you create new remote "codes"?

Hi All,
Can it be tailored for a device or does it work with db's only? I wonder if I can hook it up to my laptop (tired of getting up and using keyboard every time I want to put a movie on pause)))

Just for info: I am somehow confused (:?) but It is indeed working now. I can download remote. I haven't done anything more but tried later on yesterday late at night and it worked...
I still have to test it properly but at least I can play with the application now...

Not exactly)) I know that my laptop should have a infrared port and use a remote controller like a TV set (most of them do) So, I was just wondering if I could use N900 as a remote control with this app.

Thank you for trying.
lirc is running, its daemon is listening on 8765, while qtirreco is running. No response, I don't have a remote list.

The only way to find the problem in my opinion is to have a debug mode and launch the app from the terminal.

By the way, I have tried irreco a month ago and it worked fine. Makes me wonder if that's a qt bug .... But why am I the only one?

To the left of the memory card slots is the IR port on the 360, used for the dvd remote you can buy, only thing so far that works for me is the sky+ box remote, shame their isnt much room for all the buttons

Let's wait for PR 1.2 with Qt 4.6, and install the new version from devel. If it doesn't help, then we can complain again :p

I have uploaded a version of QtIrreco to http://mercury.wipsl.com /qtirreco_0...emo0_armel.deb as a temporary solution.


It might not work or it might blow up your phone, but atleast it should install on PR1.1 devices.

It might actually be easier writing a separate application, or even adding database wide functions to QtIrreco. I've no idea if one long off signal will work well in QtIrreco.

The IR doesn't work from 10 feet away. Is this just the nature of the beast or is there a way strengthen the signal?

I use qtirreco with PR 1.2, and it works fine.
I have a few questions :
-where are the remote description files stored ?
-how to create new ones ?
-are there themes with little buttons (preferably square and not circular) to fit better numerous functions on the screen ?
-How-to create a new theme ?

Why hasn't anyone wrote a app to capture IR signals, so that one would not need to download the remote, one could simply program it in? I assume the N900 can recieve IR signals (IR file transfer), does anyone know if this is done, and I'm just missing something. (Very likely)

How about the distance sensor, doesn't that use IR too? Wouldn't it be possible to access its receiver directly? I guess it's not but it would be awesome if it is. :)

the camera detects IR too. If you ever have a BBQ or beach fire you should look at the fire through the camera.
There were talks about using the camera to learn signals but I'm not sure what happened to that.

Well you could try uninstalling Qtirreco and also delete the file of that name in MyDocs, then reboot. Install Qtirreco from scratch again and add all the remotes. I fear though that the Qtirreco in extras-devel only works with qt 4.6 or PR 1.2 as updating it is impossible at the moment! (someone put me right if i'm wrong here) ....so unless you can download a previous .deb for this you're stuck :(

For your information, the version in extras-testing works on PR1.1.1. Just don't enable extras-devel.

hey guys,
ive tried qtirreco, but it doesnt work.
TRIED irreco-for-n900!
it worked for a bit a LONG time ago,(3 months) and then suddenly it stopped working!
theres this crashing problem.
once i open the app, it crashes after 1 second.
seems to just keep crashing when i open the app.
i had deleted the WHOLE irreco folder a while ago, and it didnt work after that.
ive even reflashed my phone, and still no success with the app.
can some one help me download the irreco FOLDER so i can manually put it in my phone?or is there any other way to get irreco running?
ive tried:
sudo gainroot
apt-get purge lirc
apt-get purge qtirreco

and manually uninstalled irreco-for-n900 through the application manager and reinstalled.
ive even tried
rm /etc/lirc/lirc.conf
rm /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
and reinstalled.
now the backend error pops up again (funny though, since its a normal error, and i was happy to see it.)

it says "lirc : not found"

IT WORKED ONCE BEFORE ON MY XBOX 360!!Then something happened :(!(thats when i deleted my folder.dumb move i guess)
AND something for qtirreco too!(an older version for download etc.)
i have the same problem as nirpe. the problem where it shows "manufacturers:" and a blank black screen.
cant download any db's since there are none on the screen!!
please help!!im dying to show this off to my crapple i phone friends who think their fone's the best!!

Can Anyone Make A remote control that works with all types of tv,dvd etc etc ??? UNIVERSAL REMOTE u can say!!

Well, I am waiting for PR1.2 to test the new Qtirreco with Qt4.6. I don't want to use the leaked PR.

So if it doesn't work and the app developer doesn't want to help, I'll go back to irreco :)
For now, I have some hope in PR1.2 being released some time this month.

Hello everyone, tried to follow the post but didn't see someone with the solution i had on my problems.
In my case the config files where messed up after installing Qtirreco from the repos.
/var/log/lircd gave most of the hints.
The following was my solution (with model BN59-00609A as my example), although I am not sure if it was my messup in the first place.

step 1:
clear /etc/lircd.conf with any lines you don't need. In my case I was left with:
step 2:
The above will copy the configuration file of the remote it to the correct folder and add the .conf at the end.
Still confusing since lircd.conf points to /Devices folder, but it worked for me.

Restart qtirreco for the lircd to rehash, and that was it.

have u tried using irreco-for-900?
does that work for u?
or does it keep crashing?
im having a huge problem with mine..it keeps closing after 2 SECONDS!

whenever ive installed irreco-for-n900 on my phone, the files dont show on the phone..(i.e irreco folder)
can you be so kind and upload the whole folder here or compress it and send them to me at mangalsuvarnan@gmail.com please?

I have another problem:
Every time I press one of the remote's buttons, the following error message pops up:
"Socket connection with lirc failed! Please try reopening software."

Well I reopened, rebootet and reinstalled, nothing could help.

Any suggestions?
