i believe one of the reasons for this is because the n900 sells fully unlocked.

ibig-sabihin: no n900 goes to every service provider to make it sim locked, or even do a test if the service provider can provice full service for the n900.

in short, n900 just go to end users from nokia or retailers but not from service providers like globe, smart etc.

so kung indi gumana ang sim mo sa n900, sorry nalang, you need to use a different sim or switch service providers.

Re: Nokia N900 Owners from Philippines

tama ba ang pagkakaintindi ko?

well, ive never bought a phone from globe. (except for the first time i opened my account) and lahat naman ng mga yun hindi dumaan ng globe. direct from importers un, i assume. some dont even have ntc registration. pero op menu pops up.

i dont think it's a network thing but a phone thing.
unless may smart/sun peeps out there wih operator menu..in that case, excuse my ignorance (i was born that way) =p

Re: Nokia N900 Owners from Philippines

I am using a Sun sim on N900 and no operator menu as well. I don't use those services and I didn't notice until somebody mentioned it here.

there's a menu in the SETTINGS that say's ENTER CODE to REMOVE OPERATOR LOCK. cguro pag nakuha ntn ung pswrd ma uunlock na ung oparator services.. hmmmmmmmmm.. ?????

May pinoy thread pala dito sa forum. Sali ako. I'm from Sampaloc. Meron na ba nakahanap ng Otterbox case dito sa atin?

gabby131 2010-08-01 19:48

Re: Nokia N900 Owners from Philippines

as what i've mentioned, the n900 being fully unlocked MAY be one of the reasons.

when i was still in the philippines, there are phones that are from abroad that my relatives sent, (one of them is a blackberry) all of those phones are supported by service providers (after being unlocked) except for the SIM Services.

hmmmmm.....or.....try looking on your "Settings" there might be an option for SIM card. (maybe under "General" if not, i have no idea.

sa tingin ko ala pa otterbox jan, maxadu mahal yun eh. $35.00 USD ata. ewan ko lang kung mababa ang import dyan.

to be safe, let us start a n900 community in pinoywap, we'll share data and files for n900 and other devices.

pinoywap.net

@elbttrd

i have upgraded to v39, havent seen any changes until titan (the maintainer) puts a changelog on the wiki.

@all

guys! are you aware of the n900's micro USB problem? check this thread. also, check your manufacturing dates (located on the box beside the telephone sign) it should appear like 99/9999.

mine is 52/2009.

According to the developer:

http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=109

I guess not really useful unless you plan to multiboot your N900.

aus yan. ung devices daw na affcted ng usb issue ay mga summit device and first production (xx/2009).

so may chance na indi affected ung 2010 batch. but we wanna make sure right? (but according to Texrat, his replacement n900 also got the usb issue)

for those who are worried, just file down your n900's micro usb charger and data cable.

On the N900, if you just want a scrolling map, then mappero, ovi-maps, navit, pretty much any of them. Navit is the only one of these that will give you useful turn by turn navigation, but it's tricky to set up.

I would suggest you bring along a symbian phone with you. Not trolling, just that the N900 isn't that great for GPS in the Philippines. Yet.

Any Symbian phone with Ovi-Maps if you want functional turn by turn navigation, better if you can combine it with something like Garmin Mobile XT and the roadguide map (http://roadguide.ph/)

This will give you pretty good coverage of the national capital region, not bad coverage everywhere else.
