in the meantime check out khweeteur, it seems pretty good and supports oauth. Not as beautiful as tweego, but you can actually use it :)

You can open links with it, select your tweet and click on the more button (+) ...

Replying to myself, but:
witter 0.3.6-4 from Extras-devel some offers significant improvements over the Extras-testing version I used previously. I was too quick to complain.

I look forward to the continued improvement of TweeGo, witter, and Khweeter.

There is another promising Twitter client coming to the N900.

It has an interesting concept for the use of landscape mode.

He is also the developper of MoneyFlow and TaskFlow.

At the moment I am using Khweeteur, it works pretty well, the main drawback is that it doesn't show retweets in the timeline but appart from that I like how fast it is. It is a work in progress and lacks a few features but I still prefer it to using web clients.

It's not really a branch, it's a personal clone, you can checkout it here: TweeGo Clone

So guys, I've been doing some tests and, using qca + qca-ossl + qoauth + twitterapi (from qTwitter), and TweeGo is now working again :D

But, as you can see it is a lot of dependency, and only qca is available at extras-devel repository, qca-ossl + qoauth + twitterapi were compiled at scratchbox and copied to N900.

One solution for this is copy all the dependencies code to TweeGo source code which is awful for obvious reasons. Another one is to talk to the developers to create a package for those dependencies (I already sent an email to Antonio Aloisio, the guy that uploaded the qca to extras-devel, asking if he knows if the qca-ossl will be at extras devel, if it would then I'll talk to Dominik, also qTwitter developer, about the qoauth)

If they don't create the package, I'll try to make an script to download those dependencies but this is not the best nor the safest solution, will only solve the huge source code problem.

I really hope that qca-ossl and qoauth become avaiable at maemo garage, it will help lots of people with their apps, including apps to connect to facebook, that also use oauth to authenticate.

Tweego Doesn't Work
 

I installed the app Tweego and it won't let me sign in on it. Keeps telling me wrong password/username but I know my username and password are correct. I even wrote them out in the Notes app then copy pasted them.

It's not been upgraded to use OAauth yet, so it stopped working at the beginning of September. You might want to check aout Kweetheur (?) or witter, those do work with OAuth.

Does anyone know if we're anywhere close to sorting Tweego out with the new Oauth system? I can't log in now because it keeps telling me "wrong username/password combination". Will this be fixed any time soon?

If you have the current version of TweeGo installed, it will shows up to you as an update.

The current version won't work because of the basic auth shutdown, when we release the new version, with ouath, you'll be able to login.

Yeah, that's true. I believe that we can finish TweeGo's new version before that.

For now it is only for the logout button and tweego's version but in the future I'll put some settings (like time for auto-update, change avatar) and user informations (like bio, location, etc).

i found out some desktop client hotot, so i think you should look on it and maybe take some ideas from it for new versions. but still i think tweego is one f the most beautiful apps for n900. thanx a lot.

I have just loaded it, not sure on your issues, im running PR1.3 also and it installed no problem.

Geo Location looks to be missing and auto re-fresh is still missing, however its great to see it finally getting worked on again.

No idea why this is happening, but can you guys try to load tweego from the terminal and put here the log?

You can also remove the ~/.config/Zagaia/TweeGo.conf to remove all registered accounts and register your account again (TODO: TweeGo needs a remove account button somewhere) (Do not post the contents of this file here! It has informations to access your account!)

I had to remove some features from this version because I had to change the architecture to support oauth. The ones that I remember now are url shortner, geo location and mentions.

I'll put them back for the next versions before start to think about DM (read and send), portrait mode and notifications.

Also, I'll probably releasing another version today or tomorrow, with tweego's icon and a fix for a bug that I found today.

Thanks a lot for the update. Tweego is the most beautiful client!
Hope to see "lists" feature among with DM and mentions. Rotation,auto-update and native-style notifications would be nice too!
Btw, is "Home" button just a place-holder for now?

Yes, it's there just to show which timeline you are currently seeing, later that will be others buttons.

I was actually thinking about some leds or vibration when the device is locked and some banners-like when the user is using other apps but I can put some settings about the notifications.
