hi all
just wondering is psxall still developing to improve the speed?
can it be done to work all games or it is the limits of n900 so it is impossible?

Im about to flash both the firmware and 32gb drive and just install what i need to get psx4all runnning as people seem to be getting games going that i cant i think a flash is in order

I believe its in /home/user called .psx4 and some other chars - but its the .psx4 part should give it away.

You cannot locate the file with "ls" command in xterm since Its called .psx4all and the . infront of it makes it hidden.

simply write "rm .psx4all" in /home/user/ and start psx4all up again, and you can reconf.

Smoku can i ask you a question, once you finished this app and porting it will all games then work or whats the go there? Im giving up now untill a new version comes as i cant get anything to run as of yet. Cheers

Atm, number of working games will increase with time, once psx4all will be more optimized for the n900's hardware and OS.

However, in the end it depends on the original authors of psx4all, wether they did a good job or not. You can try out psx4all for another OS, and see if it runs the games your having problems with on the n900. Then youll know its future, more precisly.

Atm. I'm playing Tony Hawks pro skater 1 on full speed. (tested and tweaked settings for hours to gain this) I also have tony hawks 2 and 3, and they work at maybe 80% speed with same settings. And are all very playable.. also FF7, driver, kula world, GT1, Tekken 1 and oddworld.. Those are all the games i got to work (More or less playable). Everything else crashes/gets stuck, or have glitches in the graphics... and i tested maybe 20-25 games so far.

PS: Alot of the games i test, i try both US(NTSC) and EU(PAL) versions. And try diffrent bios files. That never really helped anything.

I'm using the latest release of psx4all, settings depends on game, but with tony hawks 1, i enable frameskip to 1/2, and disable frameskip on poly. Set cycle multiplier to around 4, and disable all sound by using xterminal.

well technically you could use root. But that can be dangerous if you make a mistake. what are the perms on the file?

Strange issue with PSX4ALL. I did the rm .psx4all command to remap keys, but when complete, the left arrow key activates pause, even though the start key is mapped to another key. I have had zero problems until this. I have tried key mapping three more times with same results.

I installed rootsh from the app mamanger and had to run it under gain root in terminal to get it going. whats dangerous about root access?

well root gives you access to everything meaning the OS itself, so being careless can result in making your n900 run slow or stop programs working correctly, most things a flash would cure, but if you brick it, thats it you need a new phone. its highly advised not to mess around in root unless you know what your doing

BTW Guys i got access to Driver 2 demo and Resident Evil 2 demo and they both run at 40fps altho driver is hell slow and saying its at 40fps.. So from all my errors before not getting games going i think its just those certain games i have just dont work at the moment. So were getting there

You shouldn't need to be root to access your home directory (/home/user/).

i think programs like MC and Emelfm2 will let you view root but unless you boot it up with root access you cant change, delete, or move anything, you get "Permission Denied", and as far as im aware standard file manager or PC Suite only gives home/user/MyDocs access, the keybindings for psx4all are in home/user/. Im pretty sure all you would need root access for is to copy bios and mem card files there.

So is there any resolution or suggestion about the "left" button bringing up the Emulator's menu?

I've seen several people post this problem, and I myself just had it strike the moment I started using a SixAxis controller to control PSX4ALL.

I never had the left arrow key open the Emualtor menu when I was only using the keyboard, but now that I'm on the SixAxis, in game use of the left D-pad arrow opens the menu.

Last night, to play Resident Evil 2 I had to go all "Zoolander" on it and just turn right 360 degrees in order to direct myself to the left....

(Derek Zoolander is not an "ambi-turner")

I have done the "rm .psx4all" command to remap eleven times and also uninstalled and reinstalled twice, but still happens. Anytime I map to the left arrow key, it also acts like pause or start, though another key is mapped as the start key.

Arrow key worked fine and I did not have this issue until I tried my first remap with the "rm .psx4all" command.

@Lucas777, I have no key conflicts, but the left arrow key still seems to want to be both the left direction (as mapped) and pause/start key (as not mapped). Weird thing is this fine app did not do this the very first time I installed it and mapped the keys.

No, you don't need root access to copy things to your own home folder. Except then if the files being copied have read permissions for root only but you shouldn't need to copy that kind of files to your home folder (or someone has really messed up with the permissions of the files).

you can? always thought it was restricted to MyDocs, but sweet saves me having to gain root just mess with files in home.

and about the left arrow thing, same prob here, used to be P till i removed .psx4all and nows its left arrow, but im sure a few pages back it was mentioned this was going to be fixed in the next update or so, but if its any help i binded arrows to W A S D and buttons to H U M K and Q, E for triggers enter for start period for select, until its resolved, only problem i got now is if i hit Q A at the same time by it turns off FPS and lowers cycle multiplier :confused:

The positive is it works pretty good already and should only get better :)

Anyway to access games from the sd card, rather than internal memory? These games are taking up some MP3 space ;)

how do you know that psx4all is using the custom bios? I put scph1001 on /home/usr/ but how do i know its not still using what ever bios it had at fresh install?

As far as a bios, the app never showed the PS logo and only played game movies at start-up, until I put the 1001 bios where it needed to go. Now the logo shows and the app plays the games.

well I put the scph1001.bin in home/user/ but i dont get the logo, and FFVII still crashes at the firts fight, im using the previous version because i read it works better, but thus far neither have worked great for me

well personally im using the latest version of psx4all, got scph1001 and scph7502(41a) in home/user/ boots up fine with ps logos currently at the 2nd reactor on ffvii no problems so far.

just changed scph1001.BIN to .bin I dont know if that helps.

dumb question.. when you say the PS logo you mean the orange diamond shape thingy? cause I still dont get that :S

yeah thats i mean lol, btw all file must be lowercase like scph1001.bin not SCPH1001.BIN wont reconize it, someone mentioned in the thread somewhere, should boot up now by the sounds of it.

It does boot up, and with some tweaks in the settings, it run great frameskip 17/18 with a couple of filters set off runs great (better than when i played on my computer 10 years ago), but still no luck with the bios, i only get sony entertainment of america presents, but no logo, no diamond, and still crashes everytime at first fight, its getting anyonying

i have the file all lower cases, in home/user/ right under the mmc001 and 2 files,and using the 3.0.1mr4 or something like that

am I missing something?

yeah i was the one who figured that out changing bios bin from caps to low case which worked. anyone know what other bios filed work? apart from 1001? could be an issue im having with some games crashing...
