Also its sometimes a little buggy and I got some crashes, probably because its still rally experimental.
But this is really great, very good work!

Accelemymote is out of my hands... not even sure its being worked on anymore. Open up .accelemymote/main.cfg and see if there are any settings in there. Unfortunately only the more recent versions of blight support deadzones, but I'll certainly keep trying.

i updated to the very latest version but saving is still not working it seems
when loading titles like quest 64 and hybrid heaven the games mention they cant find any memory/save packs...

and did someone figure out how to customize the controls yet?

IzzehO 2010-07-07 05:38

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Updated July 6th>

Instructions for customizing controls is in the second post. If ya can't work it out install v1.5 of mupen64plus for Linux, use the GUI in that to define the keys and then copy over.

i may know the issue for saving. i don't believe I enabled controller memory paks by default. Only the innternal memory found in the cartidge (much smaller).

Quick fix if its still not working:
leafpad /home/user/.mupen64plus/blight_input.conf

You'll see on about the third line plugin=1, change this to plugin=2 which will enable the controller pak memory.

It was quick, but it's not really that dirty... (unless you consider the original mupen64 code dirty).

I change plugin=1 to plugin=2
Now when i try to run rom it's says:
"The core thread recieved a SIGSEGV signal.
This means it tried to access protected memory.
Maybe you have set a wrong ucode for one of the plugins!"
How fix it?

Are you even using the version I uploaded? Your video has GUI, while mine does not... so I'll take it as a no.

Chances are you've installed OpenSSH or similar and have set a password for the root user. Yes you can type with keyboard its just invisible (always a silly feature in my opinion). No matter... type following instead:

root
ln -s /home/user/.mupen64plus/mupen64plus /usr/bin/mupen64plus

then close the terminal, open a new one and continue on.

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Updated July 6th>

Izzeho, thanks for the packaged new version!

super mario 64 runs almost at full speed with sound @ 1ghz OC.
textures are good, almost what i get with Project64 emulator for PC.

sound still stutters sometimes but nothing unbearable.

im gonna try the same settings with 1.15ghz OC!

EDIT:
Zelda OoT not running at full speed but textures are good too. Tried running @ 1.15Ghz with and w/o sound, framskip 1-2, still not fast enough. But still good progress!

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Updated July 6th>

Ive followed the guide and read upto like 16 pages on here and I still have the same problem that no one else here has mentioned. I know linux is case sensitive but I followed the steps precicesly and then realised the guide was incorrect and luckily other folk had corrected that.

But for some reason I cannot get the actual package to download - Mupen64plus.
When I type wget http://izzeh.radiodmp.net/mupen64plus-06-july.tar.gz then I get the same error "Resolving izzeh.radiodmp.net... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution"
I have tried this while being in root and without but no luck.

Can anyone help please?

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Updated July 6th>

badboy, are you connected to WiFi or 3G by any chance? also, the instructions said that you should close and reopen a new terminal when doing the WGET command.

if you want, use a PC to download the file itself, and copy the file to your home/user folder in n900.

click the link on your last post to download it.

Really? I am playing OoT at 850mhz with sound and it is nearly full speed except for the cut scenes. I would upload a video but the n900 is my only camera

Btw, playing these games with the accelerometer is really fun! I have beat them numerous times on the console but using the n900 is a whole new challenge. Kudos to IzzeHo for posting this awesome guide! And of course to all the genius devs who made this possible in the first place (thanked in the first post) ;)

ok i got it to download and install, it worked straight away using 3G. now that is wierd.

I still seen the error when it was making the directories that it could not copy or find the libsdl-ttf2.0-0 file.
i did try to install it but said i had the newest version so i assumed it should be okay?

how do i quit the game without click ctrl - backspace and endtask, thats the only way i can quit the game that i know of, and how do i save the state of the game ? Thanks alot guys great job

slartibartfass 2010-07-07 18:13

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Updated July 6th>

You can also do ctrl+backspace and then close the xterm, those are at the moment the only ways. In Mario you can save after you got a star. In OoT for example, save as normal, start and then save.

There is no need for a bugged GUI. I made with Queen Beecon Widget. It's pretts cool, and I'm now trying to make buttons to fast switch between Keyboard, Sixaxis and Accelerometer control.

Open up blight_input.conf in leafpad (the sixaxis one):
leafpad .mupen64plus/blight_input.conf

Then copy the controller 0 settings to controller 1 and make both exactly the same... except make the device=1 for the second one.

So it works then? You can add a 3rd controller the same way... or have the accelerometer as first controller and ps3 as second and third as well :D

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Updated July 6th>

Reason I cannot wait for this to be in repos: I am more then capable of installing this on my own, but once it's in repos, it's no longer a "hack" it is an application, it might be in development but none the less it is an application for the N900.

Personally I think we should organize a group of people to work on this project so it does die, maybe have a sign up sheet. Real exciting stuff.

cfh11 2010-07-08 00:21

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Updated July 6th>

Errr... how is this not an application? Because it doesn't have a GUI?

Cue 2010-07-08 00:26

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900 <Updated July 6th>

I'd have to agree with xxxxts here it should be in the repos there is no reason why it shouldn't be.

gui would be nice because some ppl dont know how to mess with xterm and there would be more testing ppl.
its nice though but it would be easier to change settings with an gui
