I have two of them. The first one is the one I made for the original script. It's been so long though, I don't know which is mine and which is yours? On another note, how do I extract and view contents of a deb file without installing? EDIT: My Mistake, I got it. I called mine Optimize N900 and you called yours Script for N900, a bad name in my Opinion, but whatever. So basically I did see it, my mistake. |

optimizen900-packaged (0.0.6) unstable; urgency=low
* Fix icon refreshing on install * Changed name of desktop file back to Optimize N900 1 issue still remains.. for shortcut to work you have to switch themes back and forth... EDIT: Or a Reboot Still looking for solution Still taking suggestions |

Hi, is your .deb file taken from here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...4&postcount=22 because that's awesome since installing a .deb file is much faster and easier. But anyway, currently using the manual way to install as shown in the link above, just wondering if you're using the same. |

That script is really a must-have because I think both MicroB and Modest suffers from memory leaks (html rendering and javascript engine ?)
What is your uptime score now ?? :) Thanks a lot for that job. |

Re: Optimize your Nokia N900
hey humble, i tried your file (v6) and it doens't work. I changed the theme, and i can see the new desktop icon, but when i launched it, the status menu on the top kinda gets screwed up as the operator logo shows all the way on the left and the screen shows distortion for a bit. And when i click the menu, it shows "no applications".
Then, all goes back to normal, but no process actually gets killed, so it didn't actually do anything........ i also tried to reinstall again by deleting everything first, and then install as fresh and reboot the device (instead of changing themes this time) and it still shows the same problem. And now, when i try to install the individual files manually, it doesn't even work anymore whereas it used to. Any ideas? |

So basically, i'm still running the same script downloaded from the first post in page 1. The thing is, i've never experienced any of this problem that i currently have atm, the script just executes and closes and i know it works because i always test the Media Player app, and if it closes/terminates then the script obviously works. But it doesn't exit at all anymore, and i get those problems as mentioned before. In fact, when i run the script manually through xTerminal, it showed that most of the processes are not found. BTW, how come your put the file in this location: Quote:

Re: Optimize your Nokia N900
okay everyone i figured this one out once and for all so here it is....
for those of you who want to run this script automatically using ALARMED, you do the following: 1 - open ALARMED 2 - hit new event 3 - from the add event menu select COMMAND EXECUTION from the drop down 4 - select the frequency of occurrences from the secondary drop down (every minute, hourly etc) 5 - in the enter name field, call the event Optimize 6 - in the enter command field, enter the following command sudo sh /home/opt/scripts/OptimizeN900 (assuming of course that you followed all previous instructions in this here thread and placed the executable in that folder) 7 - save the preset and then save the event then close ALARMED. 8- sit back and watch! a word of interest..... the script will not open and run. Instead it will run in the background and kill all processes that are in the "line of fire" per the script. I was able to test my work by opening a browser window and then minimizing the open apps. I then set ALARMED to run the script every minute to see if it killed any open processes. it did in fact kill the browser window, hence proving to me that the process runs smoothly in autopilot through the use of ALARMED. I then went back and set it to run each AM at 6. hope this helps!! thank you to all who assisted me on this one. and most of all a huge thank you to jorgefx for putting this script together and to all other people who contributed to this effort. mad respect and props fo sho! |
Re: Optimize your Nokia N900
I try to run the script but all I get is a bunch of lines
Your Nokia N900 is now being optimized :Not found :No process killed :Not found :No proxcess killed :No process killeddexer Killall: cannot kill pid 3008: No such process ETC |

Actually i found out the problem ... If the phone is locked and asking for the password and alarmed run the optimize script , then mce will die. My solution was add a line in the optimize script to stop mce and start mce... its working just fine (Must be run with sudo and be sure the stop and start scripts are in the PATH) sudo stop mce sudo start mce |
