I only made a suggestion. I understand that this moment other things are important for cutetube but this implementation would be very nice for many users.

I just made a conversion from a 480p video to an m4a audio file and I have to say that it doesnt charge so much the cpu load. My N900 is lv overclocked with limits 250-850.

I converted a video file of 4 minutes long (480p) into .m4a format. Took me only 2 seconds to convert with ffmpeg.........

I have to applaud you marxian. You get so many requests, and you are doing your best to implement extra features all the time to this already brilliant app. Look how fast this thread is growing. This app is getting better all the time. Well done and thanks again for my (and alot of other peoples) new favourite app for the n900.Your work is much appreciated.

Love the app...I was getting tired of pulling out the stylus and clicking the fullscreen button on the youtube website in the browser.

what happened to launching internet on app launch? could it at least be an option if it is not the default? also auto switch to 3g ans switch back to 2g would make this @perfect app for me.

problem is the app is so nice I am sure you are swamped with requests, thanks again.

There is no way of clearing recent searches from within the application. I didn't want Y.A.B (yet another button). You can clear your recent searches by removing them from the cuteTube.conf file located at:

The recent searches function works as follows:

• New searches are inserted at the front of the list, so the most recent search appears at the top.
• The 30 most recent searches are retained, with the oldest search being removed when the total exceeds 30.

The newest searches will always appear at the top, so I don't see a need for the ability to clear recent searches, unless you're searching for something embarrassing and you want to clear them before letting someone else see them. ;)

Just upgraded to 0.9.4-3.
Unicode search works PERFECTLY in Japanese.
Haven't tried Chinese yet. I believe it should work fine.

marxian !!!! u got some naught thoughts in ur mind but any way..

prb arrived again, there is no result while i press the button SEARCH. This is the second time happening after clearing my device.
Button SEARCH works with the subject made earlier ie from RECENT SEARCHES, not with the new subjects what i enter.


the search is working only after i clear all my RECENT SEARCHES from the cuteTube.conf, as u said the path..:D

It is an absolutely wonderful application and, by far, the best YouTube client for Maemo.

Btw, it's unusable for me without a higher buffer. Can it be changed with or without the GUI?

I'm not sure whether I'm using UTF8 locale at all, it is set to bg_BG. In the picture it should be written: тест - which means test in English.

I notice that if I use virtual keyboard, everything is displayed correctly, but if I use the hardware one, it is not. So I presume it could be Maemo problem than application one. Although for other applications hardware and virtual ones work the same.

This is offtopic, but it is a common problem for ALL APPS written in QT.
if you have changed the system locale and you are using ukeyboard you loose proper hardware keyboard support for the second language. change back to english device language and check.

By the way searching with greek characters works just fine.
I did like it better when cutetube tried to open an internet connection when launced.

I was able to reproduce the error. It's likely that my code wasn't able to get the correct URL. I'll try to fix it.

EDIT: I left an illegal character (?) in the filename used for saving downloaded videos. Doh!

Yes. Private videos cannot be viewed via the API. The video URL is removed from the XML file that pulled from the server.

I would like to see a list of my youtube downloads on the device. Is something like this planned? :)
I'm able to see the already downloaded videos at the Media player. But they are not very well sorted. And as soon as the download is finished and I restart cuteTube the Download Queue is empty again.

I will consider implementing a previous downloads window, but I don't want to go too far into media management. This application is only designed to be a YouTube client.

Thanks for the great app! The only thing I see wrong is it isn't showing my complete favorites list. I don't see a more button or the plus symbol at the bottom of the list.

I have version 0.9.4.5 installed and lately have been unable to download any videos. Item is added to the queue but it fails each time.

Update: just noticed a video from a non-corporation user downloads fine. Is cutetube unable to download certain videos then?

The application will display whatever feed is returned by the YouTube API. The plus symbol is displayed only if the number of results displayed is >= 25, so if the API returns < 25 videos, there is no option to obtain more results(since there won't be any). As a test, I added some videos to my favourites, to bring the total > 25, and it worked fine.
