Re: BackTrack 5 (arm) released

I don't know if others are, but I am aware of this ;) I just prefer having actual partition on my memory card. By the way, "chmod" used on a file on vfat partition will not have any effect, as vfat partitions don't store permissions for files. Anyway, thanks for pointint it out for ones that were not aware of it before :)

True, but it would matter for those of us not using vfat :-)

//EDIT::
Keyboard working.

I would do all of this for the bt5 image, but I think its pretty borked in general. I cant even stay chrooted into it for more than 10 seconds without the ssh/putty connection getting disconnected.

Now to theme/menu/install.
What should I install on it?

Anyway, should be awake in about 12 hours. Hold out until then and ill post my current image. Uploading it before I leave.

//EDIT::
The image will be available at http://www.azkay.com/squeeze_arm.rar in about 15 minutes from this last edit.

SHA-1: 104741B7F426B9475EBC891EB7466BABBAD520E1

It currently has openbox, firefox, scite and working keyboard.
Tomorrow ill work on it more, adding the backtrack repos etc.

to use:
Code:

sudo gainroot
cd /home/user/MyDocs
wget http://www.azkay.com/squeeze_arm.rar
unrar(?) - Forgot the command to unrar under linux, uploaded it from my Windows install- my bad.

mkdir /mnt/bt5
qchroot squeeze_arm.img /mnt/bt5
su root
./startbt5

Click anywhere on the wallpaper to bring up the menu. Terminal/Browser works, rest ill have to add in as I install.

Have fun.

your image is the only that i been able to get the qchroot to work.
however im not able to use it still.... can you help

If you really want to add BT5 repos to Debian, then that's your prerogative, but please don't call it BT5 or BackTrack at all. It's not BackTrack, and you're just going to confuse people like the poor soul above me.

I agree with not calling it BT, but anyway, any debian with correct set of packages was - is - and always will be better than any backtrack. Howg ;)

Well, technically, all BackTrack is is Ubuntu with the correct set of packages ;-p

So where is this at now? I had the stock BT5 arm image up and running chrooted a few hours after release. I've been meaning to draw up a quick tut but haven't had a day off for a while.

Is there any ongoing issues I can help with? I don't have the time or patience to read through the 30 pages. I am willing to give workarounds for anything outstanding however.

HOW TO RUN BACKTRACK 5 ON THE N900

Instructions :

(Be sure you have rootsh & easy-chroot)

Put the bt5.img anywhere (eg: /home/user/Mydocs/bt5 )
you can download the image here
open Terminal
Code:

sudo gainroot
 mkdir /mnt/bt5
 qchroot /home/user/MyDocs/bt5/bt5.img /mnt/bt5/
 export USER=root
vncpasswd (Needs to be done once for setting up a password)
 vncserver -geometry 800x470
 startvnc

ok but in this second part ,

first terminal running background
open other terminal:

sudo gainroot
cd /
cd mnt/bt5/
startvnc 127.0.0.1:5901 for example
my password

and for exit

stopvnc
exit
qumount /mnt/bt5
exit

but this steps for shutdown in first or second terminal ?

all correct?

very thanks

i have wifi apps:

faircrack 0.3
automaticwlan
thomshonkeys ui
decrypter.sh

and with backtrack 5 , n900 complete

Has anyone been using the MaemoSDK? I haven't noticed any mention of it. just curious.
I would like to try my hand at compiling a native bt5 for the maemo. My problem is the amount of time it would take me. The learning curve is more like a mountian than a hill, which is okay by me. I just don't feel it would be completed in any amount of time to be benificial to anyone.

Hey guys, one question here:

I have bt5.img in MyDocs (VFAT) partition.
Would moving it to MicroSD with ext3 FS make a difference in performance? It's a class 6 Transcend card.
It handles Easy Debian very very well. No bottlenecks around.

Just wanted to ask you before I test it mv'ing bt5.img to Microsd.
Thanks a lot.

karam 2011-05-24 15:06

Re: BackTrack 5 (arm) released

IMO it should have a better performance
But ask more people to make sure

You can look at my previous posts here or my blog for instructions on getting the original 5gb ISO to work - https://seventhoctober.net/2011/05/b...on-nokia-n900/

I would like to compile the kernel, all of the other programs and their depends, directly in the native fremantle os. In other words... "start from scratch".

SDK = Software Development Kit

P.S. Sorry it took so long to respond.

Re: BackTrack 5 (arm) released

BT5 is nice. Why don't we just create a HackPack for Maemo?
Get all the tools we need and create a kicka** native (Maemo) hackers kit?
This is a lot of hassle to run, we just need to compile what we don't have or add BT5 repos to N900/easy debian...

karam 2011-05-25 22:25

Re: BackTrack 5 (arm) released

Oh i actualy have most of them compiled and usable For me i don't need bt5 but although it would be nice to have it (If Only every problem is fixed (keyboard ,crashs)

And BTW you can request some binaries i can upload some :)
(cowpatty mdk3 genpmk drifnet dsniff(wich inclide msfsnarf urlsnarf etc..) aircrack-ng airdrop-ng ettercap sslstrip w3af nikto airchat-ng etc....)
i have almost every important binary that works on n900

BTW wep is super easy to hack with N900
Also WPA (but needs easy-debian) to create a rouge ap so it is also super easy to hack with N900

there is metasploit3 fully functional on N900
Imagine meterpreter session in your pocket it is super awesome

Well in the bottem line : if you prepared your n900
You will be the strongest person in the area you go to
PS if anyone bothered you
simply destroy him :p

Hmm or nono don't do that just forgive him :)

And here is a quik trick that i realy like (using mdk3)
please don't use it to harm people (only to show your friend for examble)

mdk3 mon0 b -g -t -c 6

another window

mdk3 mon0 d

those to lines will destroy every wireless nearby and create unlimited accesspoints (they are all fake)
wich some times destroy wireless drivers in a computer

Oh well sorry looks like i spoke to much :p
i was just drifted :)

If you compiled the BT5 kernel and ran it, you would no longer be running Fremantle at all, you would be running BackTrack.

There's technically nothing stopping you from doing it, other than the process itself. I would not recommend doing it if you're trying to accomplish something practical. If you're just trying to learn and do it for the experience, sure, give it a shot, though I would suggest starting to learn kernel compiling with an easier target than this.

As for the other tools, nearly all of them are open source and downloadable, so sure, you can give it a shot. It's a lot easier said than done to get dependencies working in Maemo though, as it has been years since many of them were updated. A lot of people prefer to do compiling in a Debian chroot or now a BackTrack chroot for that reason.

Basically, if you just want to do it for funsies and the experience, knock yourself out. If you're trying to build your own better version though, remember that BT5 took a whole funded team of really smart guys quite some time to get this out. If you don't have resources of your own, this is going to be harder than you think.

It supports up to 4GB. The image included in the first post here should fit, or you can reformat your memory card to ext3 or whatever you prefer and use the official BT5 image. I've posted a link to my blog several times so far that explains that method.

Yes it is possible but i don't have enough experience making deb files (yet) :)

So i will upload binaries and paste an easy code to apply every thing :)

PS some of them like SET Social engineering toolkit

There shouldn't be any other differences, but being a bit paranoid I don't like to trust images from just anyone. I did however just discover a post from someone called zitstif that includes a good guide on how to resize it yourself here - http://zitstif.no-ip.org/?p=484

Keep in mind that if you're going to stick with shrinking the image and using vfat, you will reach a cap at 4gb for how much data you can keep in the image. You won't have a lot of room to add things.
