I found an issue. When I use the keyboard to type something (for instance, while searching) when I hit 'e' the cursor goes back 1 chracter. This is probably because of xbmc's keyboard mapping, so I was wondering if there's a workaround or something that can be done. For now I write all in caps, so maybe that could work, to pop-up the keypad with default all caps?

thanks,

I remember having fixed such a problem. Not sure though if its exactly this, Please try 1.2.2 and report back.

Perfect! Works a charm! No more laggy performance issues under XBMC Eden anymore. Thanks!!

mzanetti: you, my friend, are awesome!
Has anyone tried using this for music playback only, headless on your stereo?
I have a Raspberry Pi, I think about putting Xbian on it and running it headless, with my little kitchen stereo as audio out.
Playlist management etc operated only by xbmcremote on my N900! Any similar experiments/experiences out there?
Does Xbmcremote have the ability to power up a standalone XBMC system such as e.g. Xbian on a RasPi?

This is exactly the use case I've written Xbmcremote for in the first place. Not sure if the raspberry Pi has Zeroconf and wakeonlan enabled by default. If yes, trying to connect with Xbmcremote should automatically wake up your raspberry pi. If you don't use Zeroconf, make sure to insert the MAC address when configuring a new host in xbmcremote.

If you use a N9 and have NFC tags around, tapping the tag with your phone is enough to launch Xbmcremote and boot up your raspberry pi.

Hi,

I got xbmc 2:11.0 and xmbcremote 1.1 on my n900.
After connecting, there's only a screen with a library of videos, music and pictures, they're all empty. Why do I not have my regular xbmc menu?
I don't use the latest version of xbmcremote, because I'd have to update a lot of libraries from the devel repository then, and I don't want to experiment with updates, which aren't verified for regular use.

Most likely you don't have your library set up in xbmc. You really should scan your media files to the library. If you don't want that, you can use the "Files" submenu - but you will miss out a lot of features of both, xbmc and xbmcremote.

Ok, but that means, I can't use add-ons in xbmc like youtube? My most need would be to use the keyboard of the n900.

Swipe the screen to the left twice, or use Fn + Left/Right (or was it ctrl + Left/Right ?) to get to the keypad page. From there you can use the keypad of your N900 (or the on screen keypad) to control your xbmc.

As I said. Git master already works fine with Frodo (except some minor outstanding bugs). For now you need to compile it on your own though if you want to run Frodo beta... Stay tuned for the Frodo release.

Re: [Announce] [N900,N950,N9] Xbmcremote

bennypr0fane, I'm using RaspberryPi with OpenELEC and both remotes, Xbmcremote and Simple XBMC Remote, complements each other very well. The reason why I'm using both of them is because some buttons don't work in Xbmcremote (left and right button beside down arrow) and Simple remote has all basic controls (e.g. volume control, toggle subtitles...) on one screen, but lacks some other goodies from Xbmcremote.

Hi

I've installed 1.2.2 (although the about page shows 1.2.1) and the error is still there. I still have to use caps to enter an 'e' otherwise the cursor moves 1 position back on any text entry field.

thanks,

Hi

A friend of mine was recommended this remote for android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...atsewidgetfree

I find interesting some features, which could be implemented in n9's xbmcremote, like offline support, to check the library when out of the house.

Thanks,

Hmm... Don't know whats wrong then... I just remember having had the same and it was fixed by some config (or maybe xbmc update). Can't reproduce it any more. Anyways, the keyboard needs to be changed completely to work again with Frodo. This situation can't happen any more afterwards. (The last must-have todo before the Frodo release of Xbmcremote btw)

Hey everyone,

Its time to go Frodo! I'd like to ask some of you to download the 1.3.0 beta1 (Harmattan) and test it before I release the final in around 2 weeks. Feedback and bugreports either here or directly to me via email.

I have also updated the translation file on transifex. Please translate your language if you have signed up as a translator within the next 2 weeks. https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/xbmcremote/

Here's the download link: http://notyetthere.org/data/xbmcremo...tan0_armel.deb

And the upcoming features:
* Updated protocol to Xbmc Frodo (drops Eden support!)
* Lots of bugfixes
* Reworked keyboard (once again - this time I hope it lasts)
* Support for subtitle and audio track selection
* Support for recently added and played items
* Added Home button to browser
* Support for PVR
* Better connection management

Also, the internals have been moved around quite a bit which opens new possibilites for future platforms. A port to the Ubuntu phone is already in progress and an initial proof of concept Xbmcremote KDE plasmoid landed in the codebase. If you would like to know more or start contributing, stop by on #Xbmcremote at freenode.

Hmm. There is a bug in Xbmc that if you close it, it doesn't free the remote control port (9999). If you restart immediately after it, it doesn't work. Then you have to wait for a few minutes and restart xbmc again to make it work. Try this.

You can also run xbmcremote with "-d connection" to print more debug output about the connection.

Hi, @mzanetti,
I tried, on my N9, port 9999 not used (netstat -ltn), xbmcremote report:
Code:

connecting
QCoreApplication::postEvent: Unexpected null receiver
connecting to "Titan" "192.168.0.55" "" (using password: false )
socket error: "Connection refused"

And my XBMC network set to default:
using: HTTP
port: 8080
user: xbmc
pass: <null>
P/S: Why i dont see password field on New Host Screen (v1.3.0beta1).
Thks.

Port 9999 should be used on the Xbmc host, not on the N9. If you get a connection refused there's something wrong with your Xbmc box. Maybe a firewall or invalid settings.

The password field will pop up automatically if your Xbmc requires authentication.

Hi

Thanks for the update.
- Is the vibrating in the keypad coming back?
- Can we disable TV Channels in the main screen? I don't have the hardware and I would like to disable it.
- I've noticed sometimes my xbmc installation starts to scroll through lists like crazy, as if it was receving a lot of 'move' events, usually goes away by moving the pad in another direction, not sure if it's a remote bug or xbmc's bug.

Thanks a lot, looking fwd to the final release

Beta2 should fix those issues: http://notyetthere.org/data/xbmcremo...tan0_armel.deb

Unfortunately I also got a bug report about a wrong string (the one that helps setting up the first connection). As that one is quite important to get right for new starters, I had to upload a new translation file :/ As I had to change a string anyways, I took the chance to add the option to disable parts of the main screen.

I can discover a host with no issues, but when I click Connect, nothing happens - it drops me back to the same screen you get when you click Cancel. This happens with 1.3.0 beta 1 and 2, and whether I add a host manually or via zeroconf. It did work the first time I tried, but hasn't since. Any idea if this is the same problem, or a separate bug?

Please run xbmcremote with "-d connection" arguments and send me the output via email. Right now I can't thell whats happening. In my experience this happens mostly because of issues in the network connection, bad settings in xbmc or some firewall on the host where xbmc runs on.

If the connection still fails when launching xbmc for the first time after rebooting the PC, then you can at least tell its not caused by the bug I mentioned earlier.

It looks like the problem disappears once I remove the overclock on the machine running xbmc, so it's not a bug after all. Sorry to have bothered you! Great app by the way, it's working absolutely flawlessly now.

Hi

I think I've found a bug with beta2.

When using aeon nox skin, and adding widgets to the home screen page, there's a step in which you're asked to type the name of the widget. If you click ok in the n9 remote the new keypad goes away but the dialog in xbmc remains and there's no way to close it. Happens all the time. This didn't happen with beta1.

Thanks,
