This may not be a problem with recreating your Nokia account. I've never deleted my account and I have problems with a few apps not recognizing that I've bought them before. Not all but some of them. I contacted Nokia store with my email proof of payment and instead of restoring my status they sent me a questionnaire with 10 detailed questions. Sheeesh!

obviously you have no idea which app we're talking about!
Its ebuddy XMS which is a new (relatively speaking) service/app

Oh, he knows. The question does however remain.

Work has been done on WhatsApp, but it's not official in any stretch of the imagination.

Hi!
Did you try to install a version from Nokia Store or our beta?

Thanks,
Aleksandra

I installed the version in Nokia Store.
But, I've fixed the prob.
It was real easy.
Just select that you're not the original user lol and the user name is still the same only the number was different.
So, prob solved :)

Don't knock it till you at least try it....
It's actually not bad, finds quite few people, not as many as Whatsapp but the latter's a hack, not official.
Functionality wise it's just a capable in iOS/Android, perhaps more.
Symbian^3/Maemo6x versions need one more major update (should be soon) before they're at parity.

Re: Ebuddy XMS is out now

eBuddy may be as good as Whatsapp but the problem is that few of your buddies use it. Whatsapp is still King of the Hill in terms of popularity.

The problem is not so critical with video calls because you usually only do video calls with your loved ones and it is not a problem to persuade them to install GTalk.

So like it or not, Whatsapp is still very much desired for N9. Official or not, who cares? But this is not to discourage eBuddy developer. More options is always a good thing.

anybody having problems with xms today? Receiving messages but not being able to send, says "searching for internet connection". Internet is fine, and deleting nokia account nor removing the application do not solve the problem. any thoughts? May be a temporary issue?

Seems to be a XMS server problem. I'm using a version which isn't yet on Nokia Store and it also didn't work. Receiving yes (part of them) sending no ("searching for data connection")

Same problem here. Cant connect. Always searching for data connection. Can anybody verify if this is a Harmattan specific problem or does other platforms also have this error?

tried android n iphone they don't have any of the searching for data connection issues. Also was surprised to see how instant is there push notification compare to a small lag on n9

i Tried with my brother's lumia. It is working perfectly and his notifications are instantaneous.

Re: Ebuddy XMS is out now

It is quite extreme to have to reflash and reset your N9 to factory state just to get an app working. Can eBuddy developers please put more effort into developing this app? Many bugs are just not attended to in a timely manner. I don't want to quibble for an app which is free but there is a limit to users' patience.

Re: Ebuddy XMS is out now

I am testing it now, it seems to be very reliable.
Worth mentioning that I removed my nokia account and rebooted my device. it asked me to sign in to a nokia account when it turned it on again.

I did this because none of my notifications were working, Facebook, Pulse or XMS.

So far XMS is doing good (fingers crossed). will need to test other notifications as well

Re: Ebuddy XMS is out now

Just to share my recent experience...

I've uninstalled the Nokia store version and reinstalled the updated app at http://beta.ebuddy.com/nokia/xms-qt.deb

Still faced random crashes, power drain by eBuddy and other stuff. So I uninstalled it, used Filebox to find all related 'xms' files and deleted them. Reinstalled again and right now it's working perfectly well.

Tried the method of deleting nokia account and rebooting and adding it back again and nope it still is looking for the data connection for me. Tried a Nokia pulse with same two different accounts and it is working fine as far as the push goes.

Didn’t have to re-flash. I found another way and now the app its working again, first I uninstalled the app then using file manager went to /home/user/.local/share/data and delete eBuddy folder. Then I installed the app again and it worked without any trouble.

if you talked about push notification, no it didn't work for me. But i found that uninstalling the newer xms, delete nokia account, reboot, add nokia account, install xms from Nokia Store instead, try chat with ur friends on ebuddy a couple of times and it works for me thus far.

WOW What a run-around to get an application working on a phone,
but this did the trick so far it is not looking for a data connection, just xmsed the xms bot, now need to find if the push works with this, checked with pulse and its working.

The issue was not push notifications, I could not send or receive any messages from my n9 because the app was keep “searching for network connection”.

I used the web browser to send and receive messages without any problem but the app was causing the trouble. Then I solved the issue by following the steps described on my previous post.

Well if the trick didn’t work I don’t know what else to recommend solving this issue. Currently I’m not using the app from the ovi store but the one from the ebuddy xms beta page on Facebook.

eBuddy developers keep updating the app for other platform but for meego its not updated since dec-2011.
