Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Just wanted to say Thanks for this guide. I bought an N9 through telcel in Mexico and already knew that it wouldn't be updated beyond PR1.1, so I followed the guide and updated to PR1.2 and it worked beautifully. Even auto-updated when PR1.3 came around for my variant. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
you have to only flash main.bin (look first post) as it written there. No deleting home.
If you flash emmc.bin also home will be restored. In Home you have your personal information. But every flash is better to make a backup and safed in one PC |

1. Do I need to change location for downloaded files to Flasher..!? 2. Is it possible to change both downloaded file names to main.bin and emmc.bin !? 3. In Windows 7, cmd.., which directory should I be in while processing all flashing commands..!!? 4. Comprehensive reset is the right method for factory reset, right..!? Have no intention to change my product code. Just need my phone to be factory restored. Everything erased including app data, contacts etc.. All personal data backed up.. (I am flashing since I have problems with missing shortcuts issue in menu, no twitter notification and few glitches here and there...). Thank you.. |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
PR 1.3 N9 Mac OS quick help:
Thought it might be helpful to quickly post how to flash firmware and eMMC in N9 using Mac OS X since it took me a little while to figure out how to do both in one shot. 1) Get Flasher 3.5 for Mac (info in 1st post) 2) Get LATEST firmware image and eMMC image from Navifirm and store them on your desktop. Make sure Nokia Care Suit is selected in Navifirm by highlighting the 2nd drop-down menu item in Navifirm window and highlight the 1st item and select Nokia Care Suit. Watch this youtube video for instructions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoycnlhBzq0 3) Run Terminal and just type this: Code:
Flasher -F /Users/"Your User Name"/Desktop/DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958_ARM.bin -F /Users/"Your User Name"/Desktop/DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.13-7.LTA_EMMC_LTA.bin -f 4) Make sure your N9 is off and plug it in 5) Don't disconnect the N9! Wait for update process to finish and then when it does enter Code:
Flasher -R |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Hi!
My Nokia N9 has been having a reboot loop. Since there wasn't any valuable data on it, I decided the easyest thing to do would be to flash it. However, the phone always turns off about a minute into the flashing process. Any idea what's going on? |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Good work!! But.. When I type "flasher -f -F main.bin" my N9 seems not alive.. It couldn't turn it on and charge it.
I solve the problem typing "flasher -F main.bin -f".. Why?? |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
You might have made some mistakes as the commands can be turned around...next time just use flasher -f -F main.bin -R so it reboots after flashing...

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Hi people, i would like your help.
My N9 has the following product: 059L7Z9: N9 RM-696 PTK Centertel (Orange PL) PL (black) v1 - MR and its on PR1.2 When i started working with it a new update notification came up. i started the update proccess and after downloading it at 70% failed and n9 reboots. Since then i tried everything to put PR1.3 So my question is, looking navifirm that i dont have an original update for PR1.3?? I tried flashing other fw but failed. all i got is error 10 tried these fw: 059J204 059J1W1 any suggestions? Thanks in advance |

I have the same, it's seems to coming from the "CMT part" of the flash. I have found a solution to flash only CMT with oldest version but i try to do it with vers 1.3 to 1.2 and 1.1 and it does not work! Thanks! |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Hello Guys.
Just a simple question. I have N9 Black with 16GB with Switzerland Swisscom branding. I flashed my N9 with MacFlasher with the First Fimware from this Site: http://www.btusers.com.ar/nan/nokia/...m=40.2012.21.3 I Flashed ROW Black. Is this correct? Or should i scroll down and Flash Switzerland Firmware. What is the difference of these two Firmwares? |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Are you on pr1.2 currently or pr1.3?
If the former you can flash with ROW Black; if the latter check your pr legacy is it 001; if not then you can't proceed... |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Actually i was on PR1.1 and checking for updates it didn't find anything. PR1.3 is OUT and i coudn't recieve it.
Someone told me that my provider (Swisscom) won't push OTA Update. So i was stuck on PR1.1. Then i decided to flash manually to PR1.3 Last week i flashed ROW Firmware PR1.3(i don't know what this means) from the Website above. Now i see there is also Switzerland Firmware if you scroll down. My product Code is: 059L6C2. So i don't know is this ROW Firmware OK for me or should i flash something else. |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Stick to ROW Firmware...Its honestly the better option...
|
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Thanks.
Actually this is my Original Version: 059L6C2: N9 RM-696 Swisscom CH Black 16GB V1 For this Product Code there is still no Update for PR1.2 or PR1.3. If i want to sell it i can still flash back to Original. |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
If you are doing a fresh flash to pr1.3 its recommended to do a full flash of rootfs+emmc...Make sure you have backed up your data to a PC first...

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Guess i cant install PR1.3
"If you previously upgraded your phone "over the air" (through SSU) and now receive a Downgrade disallowed error when flashing, try flashing an image with a higher variant code. For example, if you experienced the error with variant 001, try using variant 005 instead." I dont understand what this means! I tried so many fw and always receive the following error. Currently i dont know what to do! http://imageshack.us/a/img267/8540/captureusu.jpg My C.V is PR1.2 only (its from Orange PL but im from Greece) guess this has something to do but i was convinced that i could flash a proper PR1.3 FW cause i read this int the first post: "Nokia recommends always using the latest firmware image for your phone's product code (printed on the SIM card tray). This is the safest option. However, you may wish to change to a different variant than what shipped with the phone for the following reasons: Receiving updates sooner - new firmware versions are normally released for the 001 variant first Removing carrier branding - installing 00x variant firmware makes your subsidized N9 act just like an unlocked one" what can i do? |
