For now, battery life is not so good either and my 3G signal is 3/6... Maybe i have broken antena? Need more testing (i have Saunalahti/Elisa)

But hey! On Sailfish version 1.005! You remeber the N900 or N9 :D. Maybe i will try developer software version too..

Thanks for the comment, I think you made the right choice. MMS looks like a convoluted solution for an already solved problem, i.e. email with attachment. Or alternatively, any other kind of picture sharing service.

At least where I live, the MMS service is overpriced. I never configured the service, even on the phones tat support it, and I ony ever had one contact trying to send me one. I asked for an email instead. ;)

MMS should follow WAP, the sooner these are forgotten, the better.

Makeclick, please Make my day: now that we know where to get our APK's, could you install one and test?

CSipSimple for example. Just Search "SIP" in the website you have provided.
This program offers plug ins and needs rights.

I would like to know how this rights matter is approached and and if it can access the internal Camera. :p

Thanks for all answers here guys! I keep asking unless someone objects, I will find out the day I get it anyway I suppose.

Next up: What happens when the "running-apps" page is full with running apps, will it generate another page below to scroll through?

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread

@mikelima -- just over border in Slovenia MMS are included in monthly subscription and is not such cost. There are lots of people that don't use email or have internet access on phone at all, there are also areas where connection is so bad you don't get reasonable speed, for ie. somewhere deep in woods :P and in such occasion MMS is far better solution than email. I can assure that at least with Nokia (dumb) phones MMS work realiably and I actually don't remember that ever failed.

OTOH, services like Viber, Wazzup etc. are useless for me because I am not always connected (my free will, actually).

They'll keep running (unless you run out of RAM) in the background. You won't see them on the switcher at present.

One this over what Woot replied is that the apps get smaller as you add more, this is not something you can control like in the N9, it just happens when you have more than 4 open.

A long press lets brings up the close 'x' on each app but what I only just found out is that you can "close all" by a down gesture which brings up a close all option.

Check my blog for a short video showing this.

Now, yes. But not if you had asked me at 5am (3am UK time) when I was getting ready to get to the airport.

There was about 11pm last night where I had to get out for a drink and read something on paper, just for a break!

haha, battery life will be rubbish as long as you are playing with the device all the time. If you want to compare it with the N9, ask yourself this question: can the phone have the screen up for 8-10 hours? If yes, then battery life is similar.

Regarding reception, are you comparing it with any other device in the same area? Care to name that device?

What will happen if you go out of RAM?

Does it have a swap partition?
Do you have some software mechanism to make apps to quit gracefully (similar to the iOS mechanism of documents being saved automatically and app can be quitted anytime?) ?

1) The Linux OOM killer will start operating, pick something, and tell it to shut down
2) Yes, IIRC it's 500mb
3) Nothing "built in" to make this easy at this point

FWIW, https://jolla.zendesk.com/categories...duct-usability

(you may need an account, which is free and you can have one even if you don't have a Jolla)

You can also submit requests there and see the status of them. w00t, correct me if I'm wrong, but seems like a cleaner way than just emailing care@j.c

Rule 1: you don't talk about the fight club
Rule 2: you don't talk about the fight club
Rule 3: when developing mobile apps, commit frequently. Commit when your application goes out of focus. Commit as you may drop the phone and battery may come out of it. It's too late to commit when you get a SIGHUP.

Ahem. I believe they logged the patent for something called SHARK, which was fundamentally different from swype. This mutated into ShapeWriter, which was closer to swype but post-dates the 2003 swype patents. And Nuance then bought ShapeWriter (and killed it)

First impressions rather than review. Fairly positive one, but it does say this

"Jollassa on myös tekniset valmiudet 4G LTE -tiedonsiirtoon, mutta puhelin ei toistaiseksi tue sitä."

"Jolla phone has technical capability for 4G LTE, but it does not support it yet."

Can anyone with the phone confirm this? By far the biggest dissapointment so far if this is true. Stop marketing it as 4G phone, if its true. Upgraded my data plan for LTE yesterday...for my Jolla.

Sorry but I read yesterday in IRC that 4G will come as an update to the OS but no indications of when...

It says about LTE that it works on 6 continents on the spec sheet.

Not that it might work one day on some continents. Just pure dishonest marketing

Well, I wouldn't be so harsh... it may have been an ommission (honest mistake). I suppose they'll give you your money back in full if this is a deal breaker for you and call it dishonest marketing only if they refuse to.

Well, mistake or not its still untrue marketing. Also, this isn't about some half forgotten 30 character tweet from six months ago. Its the offiical spec sheet that they are telling people to check when asking questions.

I'll have to see if I can cancel the LTE extra on my data plan and if it costs me extra to cancel it.

OTOH, it also says that a list of supported countries and carriers will be published later. So signing up for an LTE data plan assuming the jolla phone would support LTE in country A with carrier X was risky.

Totally agree. I'm ready to give a lot of slack for them, but that's just dishonest. All of us bought the phone knowing a lot less than when we buy a iOS, Android, WP etc device.
For the very least we should be able to trust the spec sheet and expect those to be there when we get the phone.

Just not good enough Jolla.
