I had no luck with YWeather or the 'Marked' watchface. The empty slot just stuck with the 'installing' spinner.

Did you check your firmware, maybe that is the reason?
Also you mentioned that android whatsapp messages are passed through, but atleast mine aint working. mitakuuluu messages worked tho. anyone else with the same problem?

Nevermind already got it working, my fault:P

Re: [Announce] Pebble Watch Connector daemon 0.15

I've installed the SDK. But I can't connect to the pebble... Normally this is done by the Developer Connection on the phone, but of course I don't have an Android device. That shouldn't be a problem, as you can connect directly from pc to Pebble by Bluetooth. However, I can't get that to work. I've installed the requirements, and running

$ pebble install --pebble_id 00:17:E9:AD:xx:xx

does bring up the pairing ritual on pc and pebble, but next I only get a time-out.

I can manually pair with the Pebble, and at some point it even remains connected (both desktop and pebble agree on that), but that's as far as it goes - the pebble command still yields timeouts. Weirder: the connection is broken and the Pebble is removed from the paired devices list on the desktop, (running Kubuntu 14.10 btw)

Has anyone got this to work? If not, a feature request: support the Developer Connection in PWCd :) Actually it's irregardless of getting the direct connection to work - it's a b*tch to set up. That Developer Connection seems much easier to work with.

Re: [Announce] Pebble Watch Connector daemon 0.15

Yesterday I wanted to try Morpheuz on my Pebble but there are two problems. First it isn't able to be installed via pebbled. And second after installing it via an Android device. The settings cannot be shown on the Jolla. But I think it's a JS Pebble app according to the author.

Re: [Announce] Pebble Watch Connector daemon 0.15

Sorry for a probably noob question but I have just upgraded pebbled and I can see 'Pebble AppStore preliminary support' in the release note. But how does it work? Or what does that mean?
I have pebbled version 0.15-1 and pebble firmware 2.8.1. But I do not see any explanation about how to use the store and install apps from pebbled?
Only thing I can see is that I can directly uninstall some of the apps I have on my Pebble...
PS: at least it sounds nice to install apps from Jolla because currently I need to go through an android device :(

Re: [Announce] Pebble Watch Connector daemon 0.15

You need to select an empty slot. And then you get a list of available apps. Swipe now from the top down and you see the "Pebble Store" selector.

Possibly not the best place.
Any suggestions welcomed.

How is that generated, ooi?

By the way, I guess you've already seen the new Pebble update. I don't know yet how the protocol for that is but I'd assume it'd be trivial (will take a look.... at my next large enough free time slot ... which will happen sometime this decade ;P ).

Either way, the problematic part is: how to make use of that from the Jolla? I've been pondering of throwing a together.jolla.com wiki post on this.

Notifications are currently very bad in SailfishOS. There's no official way to "catch them". When you get > 1 pending notification, there's no way to get real content of notifications (e.g. the mail subjects, the sms messages) instead of summary (e.g. "X new mails"). There's no real actions other than open/dismiss (and "dismiss" the way it is done now does not seem to notify the program that sent it).

There are few things we'd need to do:
A ) Improve the notification system (e.g. improving lipstick, which is open)
B ) Improve the notification sources (e.g. mail program, which is closed -- so we can't do this on our own! ).

Also I believe Jolla wants to "improve the notification system" on the tablet/Sailfish2. it would be nice to know and I could raise this on a future IRC meeting.

So... open to ideas.

Re: [Announce] Pebble Watch Connector daemon 0.15

The SMS get right displayed everytime and it is possible to reset the notifications via DBUS. But the email app is crap in that behaviour :-/. And you are right all in all the notifications need improvement on Jolla.

A Github request is open for pebbled to get improved:
https://github.com/smokku/pebble/issues/39

The video is made with "gource".

Re: [Announce] Pebble Watch Connector daemon 0.15

small glitch: I have installed the weather app (see link below) and while the 'configure' option is available and the configuration page then properly displayed, but there is apparently no way to save the changes in the configuration? The button 'save' is grey out, and only 'cancel' is available.

Are there alternative ways to get apps from the pebble store on Jolla? While the store access does work in PWC UI, it's a bit... inconvenient at the moment, due to lacking search options, back button and such.

Funnily enough, I have no search button in the official program either.

When I was using mitakuuluu, I got the actual message to my pebble instead of just notification. But with android version I only get this Android notification "1 new message". Any way to get the actual message to show on pebble ?

Yeap, I see. I was thinking some hacky workaround etc:P I am able to get those message pop ups on jolla if you change whattsapp settings. Then the phone shows the exact message straight away. However it doesnt seem to change the output to pebble. Maybe some separate app would help but that probably way too much work for just one cause. Hopefully Jolla will improve those notifications soon anyway.

pop-up how? In notifications, or some other pop-up mechanics?

its coming separately to jollas multitasking window as a pop up and you can reply immidiately there. or as new "app" you might say.
check whattsapp settings - notifications - pop up notifications - show always pop up notification. after this it should work.

Oh.
I don't think we have any way of monitoring these available.

Re: [Announce] Pebble Watch Connector daemon 0.15

I am thinking about buying the new pebble time. whats your personal opinion about the watch and the new timeline interface? Do you think that we are able to use the hole potential of the new watch with jolla?
A alot of new things are coming on both sides, also sfos 2.0 might affect things. voice regocnition, actionable notifications and so on.
In your developer opinion do you think its better to stick with old pebble or try the new one? ofc timeline is also coming to older models too at some point. Please share your thoughts.

Allerta is giving out free Pebble Times for "active Pebble developers". I think we could try asking for some. At least one for Smoku!

Re: [Announce] Pebble Watch Connector daemon 0.15

I was trying to figure out why we can't eavesdrop on D-Bus reply messages, which contain the notification ID and are required if we want to be able to dismiss notifications and/or detect if they're externally dismissed.

Turns out, it's a QtDbus problem, and you can eavesdrop those if you use the "raw" libdbus. Unfortunately this means a lot of boilerplate code to setup e.g. mainloop integration, etc. :
notificationmonitor.cpp.

I guess I should put that into a library so that all smartwatch programs can benefit. It will be useful to implement the new actionable notifications supported by the new Pebble firmwares.

Hi,

New here and just wanted to say thank you Smoku for you work on this. If there was some way to contribute I would, never worked with C or Qt before though :( I bet you could get some support if you tried crowdfund the Pebble support for a 1.0 release. I'd happily chuck in $50 towards it. Just an idea.

Thanks, again.

I don't get what you mean by "crowdfund the Pebble support for a 1.0 release". Can you give a for instance?

P.S. If you feel the software you installed is worth paying for, there's a "PayPal Donate" button on the About page.

You need to restart the daemon. Switch Active state off and on again.

Re: [Announce] Pebble Watch Connector daemon

There has been so much support for both Jolla and Pebble on Kickstarter and Indiegogo that I thought you would probably be able to raise some money and pay yourself to work on this full time. Get to 1.0 and put it in the Harbour store. Just a thought I had, if not I'll make use of the donate button. :)
