Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
Sail 2.0 actually give us a better OS? I thought they basically just moved X over here and Y over there...some adjustments for JPad 1.
So far I haven't seen any real improvements. |

[QUOTE=willi6868;1467412]Such a crappy update! It seems that it's not enough to remove the messaging and contatcs sync (thanks to SUCKerberg) no... Jolla is also removing ALL the fb avatars and all data...

Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
Am I the only one on the opt-in programme who has NOT received the update yet? I came home after three days with a very sporadic internet connection to find this thread bursting with news but my phone keeps insisting that it is up to date with 1.1.2.16. That also means that anyone expecting updates to my patches will have to wait just a little bit longer.
|
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
afaik u13 opt-in rollout have been delayed because many users have bricked their devices because of failed upgrade and lack of skills for repairing it.

I think you will find the answer on your 3G tablet. Back to the topic: Is it just me, or is the new swipe animation quite annoying? Before this upgrade, I could quickly glance at the time, but now I must drag from the side to see some moving line, before the screen finally fades away and I can see time and other apps. [RANT, sorry about it :)]Thanks a lot to all the people that demanded N9-like animation, because eye-candy is apparently more important than functionality.[/RANT] |

Its lot better now, becouse it gives very definitive visual feedback on when you still keep app in foreground and when it gets to background. You need to "swipe" only 10% to see the clock well, and another 10% to full 20% of screen width to get the line between "change to background" and when you can see the clock fully. |

Just like you, I prefered the old 'effect' as it was more practical. The fading of the line is not even smooth, so there goes the eye candy. Looks bad, less functionality - yay! |
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
Tomorrow, on Monday do you think Jolla will comment what ****ed up the 0,8% of the devices? So we could move on with this release...
|
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
Jolla commenting ? Really ? Come on :)

Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
I'm wondering: since we were able to upgrade to 1.1.24 and .28 using ssu re despite it not being officially r3ecommended and Jolla did show us 2.0 on the Jolla Phone at MWC 2015, is there some way to upgrade to whatever 2.0 build they're on right now? Note that I'm *not* asking for instructions per se as I think Jolla might not be too happy about that (but if they don't mind, then please give instructions :D), just curious if it would be possible at all right now :)

Since I don't think that SFOS 2.0 is at a stage where they test live rollout already, I don't think there is any way for "normal" folks to get it at the moment. |
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
So is the update back on track or still in holding?

A friend of mine just got it today, though he thought he was on the early release track.

Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
The update broke landscape for some apps. Webcat, File Browser and quite possibly a few others. When in ladscape in those apps, edge swipes are interpreted as if the device was in portrait. A swipe from the left edge of the screen is interpreted as a swipe from the top and closes the app, right edge as bottom (opens notifications), top and bottom swipes as left and right to go back to home screen.
It is not all the apps, only some of them. So in theory they could blame those apps. But when the only thing that has changed is the OS, then I am more inclined to blame the OS. |

Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
but it means there is no problem in update, also described behaviour is not possible at all. it rotates all or it doesn't rotates. it can't rotate application, but doesn't rotate gestures.

EDIT The issue is 100% reproducible. Open e.g. File Browser, turn the phone to landscape, with the USB port on the left and LED indicator on the right. Swipe from the left edge. File Browser closes. I suspected for a while that my screen orientation has something to do with it. I have it set to Landscape. But I changed it back to Dynamic and the issue persists. |

I know that my experience doesn't prove anything, but I'd think it may be something you changed earlier and this upgrade exposed it. I'm on a quite clean system. |
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
Not reproducible here either, 1.0.4.28, tested with Webcat and File Browser, gestures work like they should.
|
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
For me it's also working correctly, tested with file browser as you described and some other apps (native + Android).
|
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
Reboot the device.
|
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
Works fine for me too.
|
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
After the update 1.1.4.28 there would seem to be very rare random reboots. Didnt have these in ages.

Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions

EDIT: not reproducable here. I switched my orientation to landscape and back and File Browser still operated correctly. What did you have that set to when you upgraded? |
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
I'd like to see landscape possibilities for the app-menu. With Maemo it was possible to have a portrait/landscape mode for the desktop. That was superb. You could even have a completely different lay-out in both ways.
I think widget on the desktop/appmenu would be nice. Like a weatherapp that's changing it's icon in degrees. Last but not least: useragent-possibilities on the browser. That's one of the first things I check on a browser: do I only get crippled website-versions or will it be the full monty? |

The key is STARTING the app in landscape. Turn your phone to landscape: speaker and USB port on the left, mic and LED on the right, buttons on the top. Yes, all launcher icons are sideways because the damn thing is not competent enough to rotate them. Now start File Browser. Swipe from the left edge. Tada! EDIT: https://together.jolla.com/question/...-in-landscape/ |
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
Need to check what wrong with webcat then, because my own apps are working correctly this way. Means no bug in sailfishos, go and blame developers :D
|
Re: sailfishOS Upgrade12 discussions
Quote:
So yes, it is up to developers to fix it, but it is not their fault some method stopped working (without any warning). EDIT: But I also wouldn't call it a 'bug'. |
