Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
Is an item like http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=390308726921 likely to be safe enough? It has a cable and such and is fairly short.

It's more dangerous to touch at the end of a long connector than of a short simply because of the mechanical forces. And the N900 USB connector is only soldered! You could use it without problems, but be warned. :) |

Thanks all! I thought it might be weight that was the concern. I have ordered that light cable and we'll see how it goes :)

Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
Hi all, has anyone tried connecting the N900 to a USB DAC (I have an iQube v2)? Tried googling...but couldn't find anything on it. Also looked here: http://wiki.maemo.org/N900_Hardware_USB_Host , but no mention of DAC.

For the iQube I can't find any drivers mentioned (not even for Windows), but it says current from USB is 0.4A (0.3 for charging) - N900 hostmode vboost can't do that and will shut down hostmode. So the chances this device will play nicely with N900 are not too good, unless you use a self/externally-powered hub between them. Even then you first need to find out about a working driver. cheers jOERG |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
About the driver...it seems to be some kind of USB Audio standard. Windows has a generic USB DAC driver. I guess I'll have to plug it into a Linux box to see which module is being loaded.

Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
Sorry if that was answered before (although i read every post on this thread - maybe even just missed something), but how is jrbme writing and augmenting HEN GUI going? I was mentioned to be ready as for 02.2011... I only find a question directly to joerg_rw, @ about 2.2011 (smth like "How is jrbme writing progress?"), but that was never answered.
Please don't take this as complaining - i really respect and LOVE that project, and all people involved ;) I would be just great to know if You encountered any big obstacles, or just get problems with free time to code it, or whatever. I'm keeping my thumbs for You all! // edit I tried /charger.sh script that joer-rw linked some pages ago and it works great, thank You Joerg! Another ''dream'' of charing while hostmode is true. Anyway, i encountered strange problem. Sorry if it is something obvious - i may be littlenewbie when comes to unusual xterm shortcuts - but, when o use ctrl+n combination while charging (to do something other in xterm), after ~15 second charging stop - it work for me exactly like ctrl+z, except that last one print "stopped"... Beside that, effect is the same, so when charging xterm must be left alone in my case. I feel that i missed something very obvious here (even encountered that strange feeling, when You know that explanation is just ahead, but can't find it?), however after few hours of googling around i give up and ask here... // Edit @ next post *facepalm festival* Thank you very much... Yea, i knew that it was something easy... |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
Tap x-term titlebar, select "New" from the menu, do stuff in the new window.
