It's been rebooting from the start, but this freeze on boot has only just happened.

OK guys, I've just got N900 in my hands and... it rebooted itself already, after just few minutes of use :(

I happened at the very moment of switching between applications, namely I was browsing facebook and tried to switch to other app.

Note: it doesn't seem like a "full" reboot, as after coming back my 3G connection was still there.

Did you fully charge it for ~6 hours before it went and started rebooting ? Could be just low / poorly trained battery.

Battery didn't have anything to this, I'm afraid. Battery is about half-charged and after reboot now I'm using it for about 15-20 minutes now without issues. Howeverm I don't use browser at this time (clicking through settings, playing with camera etc.).

I reckon random reboots are software issue. And so far it seem to have sth to do with browser.

EDIT: another reboot - this time while typing in Bluetooth PIN to pair N900 with my laptop. :(

This may be inaccurate on a new phone. Leave it on charge over night (even if showing 100%) and see if it's better tomorrow.
I doubt the shipping firmware would have this bad a bug, but of course you never know.

1 Attachment(s)
So, after cancelling my initial pre-order with MPD, I took a trip up to NFS Regent Street this afternoon. After a quick chat with John, I walked out with a shiny new N900 for thre princely sum of zero British pounds as an upgrade to my recently expired 18 month Vodafone contract. I'm typing this on the new toy sitting upstairs on the number 7 bus back to Brighton marina.

Just to please the "picture or it didn't happen" brigade, here's one I took in the Maemo lounge earlier...

Attachment 4929

Yay for the N900!!!

OK, I'll leave it for charging overnight anyway and see how things are tomorrow...

EDIT: Third reboot within less than an hour of use (!), this time while N900 was literally sitting on desk doing nothing. Switched it off now and plugged to the charger...

I guess it's not software issues as Flashing doesn't work :/

Hi Chaps,

Ordered 14/10

Got a dispatch notification email from Southampton MPD today, I live in Cheshire- go figure that one! Anyway so I was expecting it to arrive tomorrow but having only got home at 6.30 I found a RM delivery card, it could only be one thing. The collection service stops at 6.30! It would have been decent of MPD to provide a tracking number, but now at least it's within sight! :D

That's all they seem to be though, bugs. They will soon get fixed with a firmware/software update no doubt

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Sorry, cant remember who said what but- I don't know about the low battery sound as I'd kept in on charge whilst using it- hence, no, it wasn't a case of the battery being out (sorry again because this is starting to look like I'm double posting but it's not intentional). I haveit on charge as we speak, and attempted to do that while it was switched off, but it automatically boots when you plug it in- and therefore froze again on the white balloons.. yep- so we think it has bricked. Nice one Nokia

Remember, there are many out there that we've not heard from because it's all fine :-)

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

This is indeed really rather worrying. It seemed at first that MPD stock was OK. really hope mine works properly! tho maybe there's hope? my n82 that i've still got now did a few random reboots in the first week of having it. couldnt reproduce them, would just happen a few times. still happens every now and again but is very very rare. so maybe its something that'll settle over time?? Cant really see how it can happen that way but thats the way it went with my n82. however, i still rekon if i get one thats got the dreaded random reboots i may just send it back if it doesnt sort its self out after a day or two.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Hi one and all, I have been following this for some time now and finally on Sunday night (06/12) decided to order the N900. I currently have a N97 on 18month contract with Vodafone 1200m unlimited texts and web. The wife has a rubbish pay as you go phone so Sunday night ordered the N900 on Vodafone new contract so I can switch the sims, I get theN900 and she is happy as can be to get the N97.

To cut along story short, Monday (07/12) staus was awaiting stock and today (08/12) has now changed to Ready for dispatch.

I do feel for all you that have ordered some time back, but thought I should post here even though it is my first, just so you can see my time scale. I will update upon arrival.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

I have had mine over 2 weeks and I have to say the more I use the handset the more I like it. The phone rebooting sounds like a hardware fault, Ive installed over 30 Apps on mine and have not had a single reboot. I would advise reinstalling the firmware and see how you get on. If it is still doing it take it back. If my phone was rebooting like that I would not be happy.
